"What I'd like to know is what Devastator was doing in this sector." Diehard frowned at the image of his creator on the screen. "The Aerialbots and Sunhalo are scoring the area now, trying to see if they can find anything out."

"It's hard to tell, with Decepticons. But it's usually not a sign of anything good. There are no energy deposits there, so this can't be connected to the other Decepticon activity we've been seeing since Stormcrow announced their presence." Optimus frowned back, his expression nearly identical to his son's. Then he sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Check the television broadcasts."

Diehard did so, his head shaking slightly as he watched Stormcrow's impassioned speech about the cruel attack on a peaceful mech who had only wanted to exist quietly. The green Decepticon eloquently accused the Autobots of viciousness and asserted that they were traitors and cowards. He then signed off with a vehement promise that this uncalled for aggression would not go unpunished.

There was a moment's silence after the screen returned to the usual human programming as both Primes contemplated the message, and then Diehard once more looked at his creator.

"I'll contact Major Lennox and our Liaison." Optimus sighed. "It seems that war has found us again, despite all our efforts to the contrary."

"Is there anything you want me to do, sir?"

"You've already spoken to my alternate. For now I'd like you to concentrate on finishing the base. We may need it soon."

"Alright. And Optimus?"

"Yes, Diehard?" The older Prime turned back for a moment, his expression weary and troubled. It lightened when he saw the thumbs up his son was giving him. "Thank you. Optimus out."

"Diehard out." The younger mech got to his feet and went to resume his work down below.
