All Alone - Foreman's Homeverse, a Bar

Foreman sighed as he looked around, unable to believe he'd actually drug himself down here for a drink alone. How sad was that? And unusual, too, but with House and Chase gone it didn't seem like he'd be back seriously working much either. He wasn't House, he couldn't take care of the department and be the genius House, however mentally unstable, undoubtedly was.

He sighed and ordered another beer, his doctor's coat slung across the back of his bar chair as the music banged at his migraine and the lights played with his buzzed mind.

But at least he was a little loosened up, and still stable, more or less. He could get away with driving, at the least.

Letitia strode in, grinning as a couple of her friends called her name, but not pausing in her path to the bar. She noticed the white lab coat and quirked an eyebrow, wondering what a guy like that was doing in a place like Hal's. Curious, she took the stool next to his and studied him for a moment as the tender shoved a bottle of beer her way.

Foreman noticed the rather stunningly beautiful woman sitting next to him and looking at him, but didn't bother turning. She would turn away in a moment and look at the better looking guys at the bar, or the gangsters in the back, whichever kind of girl she was.

He could still smirk on the side she wasn't facing, though. Felt nice to be noticed by a good looking gal once in a while.

Letitia leaned over slightly, her mouth turning up at the corners as her eyebrow went up again. "What's so funny?"

"Huh? Oh, nothing," he said, arched an eyebrow at her and shrugged one shoulder slightly. "I guess seeing a pretty lady makes me happy."

That earns him a grin that takes in her dark blue eyes and makes her strongboned face look even more lovely for its genuinness. "Smooth talker." She purses her lips and raises a brow approvingly.

"Not particulary. Just blunt with the flare to say it well enough not to get slapped," he said, grinning slightly.

"Good defination for smooth." She leaned toward him a little. "Buy you a drink?"

"I'm craddling. I don't feel like getting wasted tonight," he said, smiling and nodding in thanks. "Besides, I don't accept drinks from girls when I don't even know their names."

"Letitia Yellowknees." She tossed her shoulder-length ringlets back and grinned teasingly. "How many have you had already?"

"Just one before this. I want to relax, but I want to be able to drive myself home, too," he smiled. "It's very nice to meet you, Letitia. I'm Eric Foreman."

"Doctor Eric Foreman?" She sipped her beer from the bottle, eyes on his face as she leaned back against the bar.

"Yeah," he said, watching her with interest.

"Your coat's in a puddle of beer." She looked down with a slight frown.

He looked over his shoulder, then sighed and grabbed it, tossing it up on the counter and shaking his head.

"Sorry. I'm not exactly on top at the moment, you know?" he said, shrugging.

"Somethin' on your mind?" She turned and reached under the bar, coming up with a bowel of lime-covered peanuts, which she set between them. Then she stuck her tongue out at the 'tender as he turned and told her, 'hey!'

"Oh, nothing much, just an AWOL boss and serious lack of commited co-workers have shut down my department, and I'm stuck in the maternity ward until further notice," he shrugged, then chuckled. "You sure you should be doing stuff like that?"

She shrugged and smirked, then lifted that brow again. "AWOL boss?"

"Yeah. He met some woman and ran off someplace so abstract nobody can find them," he rolled his eyes.

"Didn't that get him fired?" She shoved the nuts toward him hospitably, chewing on one thoughtfully himself.

"Normally it would, but my boss was never one to follow the rules, and he's a genius, so he gets away with a lot of stuff like that," Foreman sighed.

Letitia shook her head and tipped up her beer, then flicked a peanut at him. "Enough to make someone go nuts."
