Angel's Trap (log written with
warriorordained)
Daniel could hurt himself but the demons he was fighting were having a fine time of doing that themselves. He'd gotten himself trapped in what they seemed to enjoy reffering to as an 'Angel's Trap' mimicking what Daniel and his brother called there's as Devil's Traps. But this one was specific and it was killing him.
Vanya had no idea what was going on. Come to think of it she didn't even know where Daniel was. But she had been roused from sleep by a very powerful mental disturbance that told her that he was in danger. And so she was standing in the woods who-knew-where, patiently and deliberately filling her Casull's magazines, her ever-present rosary swinging from her wrist. She was waiting for a sign.
And the sounds of fighting would probably come to her, then a shotgun blast followed by a sword unsheathing, but when she'd get to him he'd already be slowing down...getting weaker, that light that was around him was dimming.
Then, and only then, did she know exactly where he was. Cocking the Casull, she ran toward where she knew he would be. If the distance proved to be too far, she could easily portal herself closer.
She didn't want to admit she was scared for him.
He's not too far, but he can't move from the circle he's in. The trap and the fighting is wearing on him and he's starting to shake and shiver. He slashes at another demon that comes into the circle, and it screeches and pulls away hissing at him. "Come on then." he rasps. "You all wanted...to come after me...come and get it then..."
There is no hesitation. She raises her hand and the cross touches her lips and out comes the Casull from under her coat in a fluid, graceful movement... and then a loud bang. Silver bullets. Blessed bullets. They just might do the trick. And despite it all Vanya grins from under her heavy locks of hair, red eyes gleaming.
Those would definitly work, and we don't think that Daniel's really noticed that she's there yet. He's too focused on making sure he keeps his feet, which when another demon lunges at him he doesn't and his sword gets knocked from his hands as they hit the ground.
She laughs maniacally as she mows down a few of the demons - and then she hears the sword fall. Letting loose another bullet, she snaps the Casull up and cocks the slide with her teeth, jumping high in the air and landing right in front of Daniel. Another one tries to come up from behind him, but she whirls and makes quick work of it.
He'd managed to shove that one demon off, but he's done fighting, he just can't. He tries to push himself up, but he can't even support his wieght. "V..vanya.." he rasps, that light light dimming even more.
She looks left, then right, making sure there's at least a sizable distance between the two of them and any more of the freaks, and kneels down in front of him. "They've sealed you in here." Her voice is different; it sounds like it comes from somewhere else. "Time for me to get you out, hm?"
"Tr..trap.." he rasps. "Cold...it's so cold.." he whispers.
"Yes, I know." She lifts him up with ease and begins to walk, hoping beyond hope that because she's with him he'll be able to breach the circle. "Just...don't die on me, you silly human."
And it'll work, he just can't leave it on his own. "I'll try..." he whispers, leaning heavily against her.
She holds her breath as she hauls him across the circle, and looks up in surprise when she finds that they're both intact. "Now what?" she muttered, looking over her shoulder to see if the freaks were pursuing.
After Vanya coming in there and kicking their asses like that? Oh they're not following and they think they've done enough damage to Daniel and don't really think he's going to make it far.
"Have to...get away..."
She looks over at him. "Fine." And she holds him tight and seems to disappear from existence. There's a few seconds' absolute darkness, and then a room with decidedly Victorian decor materializes in front of them. "We're away."
And even though it was only a few seconds, he's barely conscious when they get there. "...cold." he mutters, eyes shut.
Vanya's breath catches in her throat. She could be riddled through and through with bullets and could pull herself together and be perfectly functional in minutes - but she had no idea what to do for Daniel. She wasn't a healer. Moreover, she wasn't a mortal human being. "Please stay awake," she whispered. "Please."
His brow furrows and those eyes open tiredly. "I'm tryin." he whispers weakly, shivering.
She steers him to the bed and sits him so that his back is against the wall, and covers him in the comforter. "What do you need me to do?" she asks, holding his face in her hands tenderly.
He curls up tiredly in the comforter and leans into her touch. "Just...stay with me..please?" he whispers, looking up at her. "Just stay..."
She smiles sadly, wishing there was more she could do. "I'm not going anywhere." She motions for him to lay down, and settles herself onto the large, squishy bed beside him. "I'm right here."
He lays down, watching her. "Don't be sad." he whispered. "I'll...be right as rain soon..." he says, smiling weakly. That light of his that had been dimming is slowly starting to brighten. "You..sure showed them." he says, smirking tiredly.
"It's what I do," she whispered, propping herself up on her elbow and leaning over, brushing her lips over his. "Just rest."
Another small smile, and he gives her a soft kiss. "I love you." he whispers.
Her red eyes snap from where they'd been wandering to look directly into his. "I love you too," she says.
He smiles tiredly again and curls close to her, reaching over and taking her hand.
Vanya likewise snuggles in as close as she can to him. "Sleep, love," she whispers. "You need the rest."
"Mmhmm." he mumbles, eyes closing tiredly. "G'night, Vanya."
