Saki sits at the edge of the forest by her and Jubal and Blade’s new home as she studies some of the books that lay around her, all third year medicle texts that she memorizes intently.

She frowns slightly in concentration, makes a few more notes in a large notebook she keeps, then puts down, and sighs as she leans back and enjoys the sunlight.

Then she reaches out and picks Puffball up, holds her close and feeds her a cracker as she enjoys the sun’s warmth and the beautiful scenery around her.

He flashed into sight far overhead and looked down to survey his domain, Saki's contented thoughts telling him that all was well. Clarice rode Apple around his head, and he chuckled and took a swipe at the two little trouble makers. "Go put your new Legos away."

YOU STINK TOO, MASTER, came the impudent reply scrolling across his inner eye.

He rolled his eyes cheerfully and ignored her.

Saki blinks as she sees something small and far above her. She smiles and sits up as she holds Puffball.

-Jubal?- she calls timidly.

-Yeah, babe?- He grinned and looked down, the shine around him growing so that she could see him better.

Her whole face lights.

-Did you have a nice trip?-

-Yeah. The kids drew you some pictures.- His thoughts were tinged with love. -And I think I found the answer to the living longer thing.-

Her eyes get huge.

-Really?-

-Uh huh. I'm just not sure we can use it while you're carrying Baby.-

-Oh,- she says softly, then thinks for a moment. -But... you can make Baby live a long time too, right?-

He swooped down and settled to Earth, the shine fading around him as he hunkered down and changed his silver suit for his jeans and T-shirt. "Well, see, the thing I've got is this." One hand dug into a pocket and pulled out a softly glowing sphere. "It's part of a fae's life. If we put it into you you'll be a changeling. Part fae, only not as strong."

He regarded it thoughtfully, feeling misgivings. Fae life was a tricky thing, and he didn't want his Saki to be trapped by some accident.

-God, still waiting on the 'good idea' or 'bad idea' thing here. Please?-

"It's so beautiful," Saki says, voice soft as she presses into his side t give him a hug.

Jubal wrapped an arm around her and lay his cheek against her hair, still looking at the little thing in his hand for a moment before he tucked it away again. "Not as pretty as you."

She blushes still, even after being married so long.

"You have looked at the stars too long again," she jokes, and leans her head up to kiss him.

"They don't shine as bright as your eyes," he murmured, flushing himself as he returned the gesture of affection.

"You are being silly again," she giggles.

"Crazy, for you." Jubal smirked, then let go of her and flopped onto his back on the grass to look up at the sky as he dug in his other pocket for the pictures from the children that he'd taken from the Dark world.

She sat by him, though not so close as she took Puffball out of her hair and set her down.

"Here we go." He took the data stick out of his pocket and handed it to her, his eyes dancing with affection as he looked up at her. "Every one of them had to make one, so they might take a little while to load."

"Thank you," she says, voice soft as she puts them in her pocket carefully. "They are all safe?"

"Yup," his reply was nearly as soft. "Oh yeah. Nobody's gonna hurt those kids anymore. At least not the way they were. The teachers say that most of 'em are learning really well, and Nana 'n the other parents say that they're doing pretty good with getting along 'n all that, too."

She nods and lays down beside him, snuggles into his side as her fingers graze his chest.

"That is good," she smiles, happy.

He bit his lip to keep the ticklish giggles in, instead slipping an arm around her shoulders and grinning down at her. "So howcome you're out here? Did you find the gardens yet?"

"Yes, I saw them," she blushes, her voice barely auddible as her mind floods and tries to keep out the embarassed admitiance that she is too timid to go into the splendid gardens.

One eyebrow lifted slightly in concern as he saw the blush and heard the attempt to hide her thoughts.

"Hey," he said gently, putting a hand to her chin so he could see her face. "What's wrong, chica?"

"Nothing," she says, voice soft as she looks up at him, too ashamed to tell him that she was afraid to go into the gardens, which were even more beautiful than the exclusive gardens in the Northern Towers she glimpsed occasionally from windows.

"Tell me?" he murmured coaxingly, his eyes gently pleading.
