Valley of the Queens: Exploring

Jubee drifted through the sky of the newest world she'd discovered, humming happily as she looked around, then grinned when she recognized the bio signiture of somebody she knew.

Swooping down she landed hard, rolling to a stop right next to the Jubal she'd known to be a hero, and have a wife named Saki. She'd been hoping to find him.

So, as soon as she fixed the many inconvieniances that her rough landing had caused, she go up and hug him.

He'd sensed his little sister coming as he crouched on the very edge of the Valley, but the sudden crash nearly made him jump over.

"Woah, chica!" He turned to look at her with a hand over his heart. "You okay?"

"Yeah. Sorry, the boots only have one speed," she murmured, fixing herself up before sitting up and flashing him a grin. "Hey old man, how's it goin'?"

"Well that bites." He put a hand to the back of her hair and kissed her on the forehead, then hugged her close to his side. "Not bad, how 'bout you?"

"I'm ok. I've lost my Superman, but I don't think he really wanted a tagalong anyway," she sighed. "I've been exploring different universes."

"Exploring's good. Even with our lifespans there's always something new to see." Jubal looked out across the Valley, his arm still around her.

Then he chuckled and looked down. "I'm a papa."

"Wow!" she said, eyes big. "That's so great! So you and Saki... wow, that's so cool!" She gave him a big hug. "Congrats, old man!"

He chuckled and gently squashed her back. "We've got two... one's not born yet, but I think you met the girl. Blade said something about a little Jubes that didn't smell human."

"Oh yeah," she said, grinning. "She was cool. One of those Wolverines, but different."

"Thirteen years old, and lived nearly her whole life on the streets of Toronto," he said softly. "She never got to be a kid. But she's learning now."

"I can make her a game or two if she wants. I sw this young Wolverine in a world, and he really liked a hunting simulation I made for him," she offered brightly.

"Don't think she'd go for a hunting game, but she likes playing the adventure ones with little Jubal. Or watching him and backseat driving, anyway." He chuckled.

She smiled. "I can make any game. Just lemme know. It can be a birthday present," he grinned.

"Oh yeah, I still gotta find out when her birthday is." He leaned over to peer down into the Valley. "Jaime probably knows. Her life was messed up, but not as bad as most Wolverines I've seen."

Jubal's forgetting to do things?

"You still human?" she frowned, looking at him in concern and giving him a poke.

"Ack!" He darted away and hovered over the Valley. "No. I've just been thinking about a lot of other things."

"Oh," she said. "Like what?"

"Helping the former Grand Army of the Republic learn how to be normal guys instead of engines of mass destruction. Trying to find a way for Saki to live as long as me. That kind of thing."

"You could ask Charlie about Saki," Jubilee looked up at him after a moment's thought. "He might know. Or know somebody who knows."

"I have." He nodded and looked down, then flipped over to float feet upward as he crossed his legs. "We've got something that'll work. We're just waiting till after Baby's born."

"Oh, then that's cool!" she grinned.

He chuckled. "So, you got anyplace to go right now?"

"Nope," she pushed her heel into the dirt. "I think only Charlie and you actually remember I exist in any reality, and Charlie doesn't talk to me much."

"He hardly talks to anybody." Jubal looked downward thoughtfully. "Introduce yourself to that female Logan who owns the cantina sometime. She remembers everybody."

Then he flipped right side up. "Wanna go visiting with me?"

"Um, sure," she said, smiling. She liked going with people. It made her feel wanted.

"Okay." He grinned his million dollar grin. "We just have to drop something off, and then we can go back to my place 'n kick back or something."
