Futureknight verse: Romantic? Oh yes.

Porthos studied himself in the mirror carefully as he readjusted his tie, then doublechecked to make sure that Brenda's pretties were all carefully stowed in the bag. That dress would look dashing on her, and withthe help he'd recieved picking out the shoes and jewels to go with it, he was sure to have the most dazzling wife at the resturaunt.

He grinned. This annaversery might pass by his love, but he was going to take her out tonight, no matter what it took.

Zipping the small bag closed after putting in a towel and some babywipes, he went downstairs.

"Here you go," he gave the bag and his coat jacket to Prudence, taking his own towel in which to wrap her in in his hand. "If you'll have the limo waiting, I'll be right back with my beautiful wife."

"Of course, Master Porthos," said the butler crisply, turning to go. "I shall be in the turnaround."

"Thank you," he smiled warmly, then hurried away, reaching the horse stables quickly. Carefully, and defying every inch of his tall, built frame, he snuck up behind his gently murmuring wife and threw the towel over her head.

"Freeze, my love, and do not resist," he grabbed her and pinned her to him securely. Turning and hurrying away gleefully he bent towards the hidden head. "For if you do I shall have to lovingly smother you until you concede!"

Her initial reaction was panic and mayhem, but then she forced herself to take a deep breath and close her eyes. "Is the towel really necessary?"

"Completely. Utterly. The only bag I could find had a horrible smell in it," he said, panting slightly before reaching the fancy limo used for special outings. He opened the door and climbed in, pulling the door shut as he left her comfortably on a seat. "Away, quickly, my fair Prudence, before she can leap out and escape!"

"We'll have to see how you like having a bag on your head and being threatened with smothering." Brenda's hand found his side and pinched hard as she smirked beneath her covering.

"Loving smoothering," he said, making sure they were a good distane away before pulling the covering off and giving her a deep kiss.

Well, he tried. But her elbow got in the way. And then she pinched him again. "That's not my love language."

He fell over with a rumbling laugh, the procured her duffle.

"I'm sorry, my love, but we've missed one anneversary due to your refusal to leave the night skies and I'm not about to let another pass unnoticed," he grinned, giving her the duffle with her beautiful red dress. "Now quickly, my sweet. We don't want to arrive half clothed."

"I don't know," she smirked and hit him right where he was shy. "Think of how all the women would stare at your chest."

He cringed and grinned, stealing a kiss form her cheek. "They'd be dissappointed, however. I have and want only you. Now, clothes. The men will stare enough."

"Is that the tux with the tight pants?" she needled a bit more, though she could see that it wasn't.

"Nope, this's my new suit," he grinned happily, finding his jacket and pulling it on. He smiled, then looked over and grinned rougishly. "May I help you with the dress, love of my life?"

She pulled a cloaker from her pants pocket and suddenly disappeared from his sight. She wasn't angry anymore, but the thought of changing in the back of a car with only tinted windows to hide the fact... nooo thanks.

He frowned. This wasn't going as planned.

"Sweetheart?" he asked softly.

A kiss touched his cheek, and then the duffel shifted and half of it vanished as Brenda opened it and took out the contents. "Give me a moment."

He brightened.

"Prudence helped me," he admitted. "But I chose the dress."

"I see that." She chuckled to herself as she pulled out the sleek, sparkling gown that she'd put away in storage after wearing it twice. Personally, she wasn't sure that it was her style, but Porthos had bought it and eagerly suggested it every time that they had to go out.

It was the work of a moment to slip it on and put her arms through the holes, then she popped back into sight and presented her back. "Zip?"

He kissed the smooth skin first, as usualy his breath taken away at the sight of her, then zipped her up.

"Er, Prudence said everything you'd need would be in there," he said, pointing at the bag again.

She leaned back against him for a moment, unable to stay mad at him for long, even in light of being once more in a dress that she felt was a little old for her. "The pumps again?"

He ducked his head.

"You... would you like to return to the mansion and change?" he asked softly. He'd miss the deluxe reservation and the sunset, but he could tell she wasn't happy.

"No." She turned and put her arms around him, feeling like a heel. "I'm sorry."

He wrapped her in his arms, resting his forehead on her shoulder.

"This is a special night. You should dress as you like," he said softly.

She nuzzled close and just enjoyed being close to him, then chuckled. "Maybe I'll start a new fashion. It'll be better than those minimalist things that the holo stars are wearing."

A contented sigh and she said one of her favorite phrases to him, "Have I told you how much I love your beard?"

He smiled. He was fully aware of what she was doing but couldn't help it.

"You're in for a treat," he said, kissing her cheek, his confidence restoring itself.

She gave one of her rare grins, fingers going up to touch said beard. "I love you."
