Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

"Hey! Jenny! No... JAIME!" Josh yelped and shot into the air, hearing both girls laugh at their success in making him flee. He hovered just out of their reach, arms pressed to his sides, then brightened as he caught Lar's scent.

"Hey. I'm glad you could make it." He landed and walked over to meet him, hand outstretched in greeting.

He smiled, taking the hand and shaking it. "Glad I could make it, Josh. What's going on?"

"Jenny and I are going to celebrate." Josh grinned. "We were wondering if you'd want to make it a double date."

"Double...? Ah, Josh, I don't exactly know anyone here..."

"We kinda told Jaime we'd find her a date." He blushed slightly and glanced toward where the tiny brunette stood next to his equally tiny wife and watched the two of them with big eyes from behind her hand.

"Don't worry about it," Lar replied. "I'd be happy to come along."

"It won't bother you that she's genetically one of my parents?" Josh's dark eyes watched him questioningly. He didn't think it would be a problem, but he'd seen cases where similar things had come up. Though why the boy at school had been so angry at his friend for trying to hook him up with a young aunt was still beyond him.

He shrugs. "It doesn't bother me any."

"Okay." He slapped him on the back in the rough, but affectionate camaraderie that he'd learned from his uncles, then turned to lead him over to the girls.

Jaime saw them coming and was suddenly overcome by shyness. She turned her back and put both hands over her face, muttering to herself in Gaelic. Jenny gently ran her fingers through the other girl's black hair, which went well past her back, and smiled up at Lar in welcome.

"Hello, ladies," he said, smiling. "How're you doing?"

Jaime snuck a glance at him, her dark eyes wide in her heart-shaped face as she twisted her fingers in her long blue skirt. "I... well, thank ye."

"I'm alright." Jenny smiled easily and went over to hug him. "How about you?"

Lar returned the hug. "I'm doing well. I've been out exploring the multiverse, seeing what's out there."

"Meet anyone interesting?" She grinned up at him, sisterly affection in her pale green eyes.

"Several versions of Clark, actually," he replied, smiling. "A few Green Lanterns, and the crew of a starship called the Enterprise."

"Did they have any tribbles?" She perked with interest.

Josh sighed and facepalmed.

"Er... not that I know of. There was an android with a pet cat though."

"Oh, that Enterprise." She chuckled and went over to poke Josh and make him give her a wide-eyed look that showed his relationship to Jaime rather well despite their marked difference in size.

"There's another one...? Wait... How do you ever know about it?"

"It's a holo show here." Josh scooped her up and set her on his shoulder.

"Huh. Very strange. Gave them quite a start though, flying through space on my own."

"I bet." He chuckled, then looked down at Jaime, who was forlornly braiding a lock of her hair and trying to look like she knew what everyone was talking about.

Lar picked-up on that too. "Sorry," he said. "I'm probably talking too much."

"Och! Nay!" She looked up quickly, her cheeks flushing with chagrin. "Ye are nae. Truly."

"Still getting used to a modern world," Josh subvocalized so that only Lar could hear him.

Ah! Super-ventriloquism! It's a handy power to have.

"I see,", he replied.

He smiled. "Oh, well, if you say so."

She smiled at him, still blushing, then sighed and muttered at herself for being a booby.

"So, ready to celebrate?" Josh's eyes twinkled.
