Alora spins into a hands-free somersault, switching off one blade of her saber and deflecting blaster fire faster than the eye can track with the other.

-Master, I hate fighting living targets.... Ouch.-

She lands and eyes the incoming beings, wincing at the touch of darkness on them, then once more leaps into the air and spins herself into a living blur. Blaster fire glints off her armor, and adds new holes to the tattered jedi robe that's hanging off her shoulders.

-The communication window will be opening in....- She throws up both hands and watches with wide eyes as the power she feels surging through her pushes back the front wave of attackers. -...Five, four, three, two....-

"Canderous, back up!"

"Already on the way," Canderous replied, sounding furious. "The rest of us are coming, too."

A moment later one of the Hawk's small space jets zoomed by overhead and landed 30 yards away. Two young, thin blurs shot out of the ship, another double bladed lightsaber activated and plunged into the enemy ranks, accompanied by the familiar color of an energy shield and modified vibrosword.

"I knew it had gone wrong," Tiji growled, Laka grinned as she knocked her opponent out cold with the handle of her sword.

"Time to rumble in the jungle!" Fron's right behind the girls, back to back with them as he grins like a loon and wriggles his eyebrows at the nearest opponent.

Then he starts singing 'Beat it' at the top of his lungs.

"We're supposed to be acting professional," Tiji beamed at him, then joined in at the chorus.

"Beat it, beat it...." His foot lashes out and catches one of the big aliens in the chin, and then he rides the momentum into a flip before landing in a crouch and springing back into the fight. "Have some more mustard, have some more ham, just eat it...."

"NO WEIRD AL!" Alora's laughing now herself.

Tiji beamed and cut through the alien horde, then looked up as the ship flew by overhead.

//Get Laka and Alora back into the subship. We're getting you out,// Carth's voice buzzed into the coms as the ship hovered overhead and opened it's doors for the Jedi to get into.

Alora doesn't even need to look, she just activates her jump pack and somersaults over the heads of the army, landing neatly next to her padawans and Laka. "Let's do this."

Laka nodded and got into the ship, preparing it and getting into the passenger seat.

"Jump in, mom, we'll cover you," Tiji said, kicking a grunt in the face.

That gets her a slight chuckle as Alora smashes an armored fist into another soldier's stomach. "Nice try. Go ahead."

"But you need to get the ship off the ground," Tiji protested. "You can't do that with them jumping you!"

-I don't like leaving you.- Mother worry comes in the thought even as she tries to steel herself to do it.

"We got it, mom," Tiji grinned.

//What's taking so long?!// Carth sounded furious. //Get out of there, all of you!//

And that has Alora laughing again as she drives back the foremost wave of attackers before flinging a light grenade and turning to the ship. "Go!"

"-It was irresponsible and reckless for you to take that ship, I don't care what you felt. You need to learn how to take and follow orders, missy, and you won't be going on another mission alone until you do," Carth said, standing over Tiji with his hands on his hips.

Tiji was scowling slightly, but was remaining silent as her father berated her. Never mind that she'd been right, and that nobody had gotten hurt, he was off again on one of his speeches about responsibility and risks and how she was getting too big for her robes too soon.

When he finally finished grounding her and promising to send her back to the temple Carth turned and walked out, and she rolled over onto her bunk and lay on her stomach, pouting.

-It's so unfair that you and Laka got off with less yelling,- she told Fron bitterly.

-Now Alora's asking him why he's taking his worry for her out on you,- comes the slightly distracted reply as he listens in to his foster parents.

-Because he can,- she sighed, absently wishing he'd sneak in and nap with her.

"It's the both of you," Carth said, scowling. "She's turning into you too quickly, she hasn't got the training or experience to keep getting away with this stuff."

"And how much training did I have when I started out?" She lifts an eyebrow at him. "Or you, for that matter. Fron, at least wait till our backs are turned before you try sneaking in there."

The teen blushes furiously and does an about face back into the mens' dorm.

Tiji sighed and curled up, shivering slightly before she searched for solace through her meditation.

Carth glared at the boy's retreating back and walked to the holodesk, looking at the planet and bowing his head.

"We have to do something about those two, too," he said, rubbing his forehead.

-Alright, Tiji, tell Fron that the coast is clear.-

She walks over and leans against the desk, her own eyes going to the planet and seeing the invisible flame that surrounds it, crushing the darkness. "They aren't going to do anything stupid."

Tiji blinked in surprise, then smiled and paged Fron.

He looked at her, then sighed and shook his head. "She's too young for that kind of relationship. And Fron..." he closed his eyes. "We agreed she was too young. And we agreed she wouldn't be going on these kinds of missions yet, either. I thought we planned all of this!"

"What kind of relationship? Carth, they're not doing anything stupid. I know what we said, but there's no way to undo the bond that they share."

Then she sighs herself and says softly, "The best laid plans of mice and men...."

He leaned heavily against the table, then closed his eyes.

"I just... I don't like it."

"Why?" she asks softly.

He looked up at her.

"Because if she gets too much older she's not going to need me anymore."

"I thought so." Her braids swing softly as she shakes her head. "Carth...."

He rubbed his face. "She's just so young to be doing all this," he said frustrated.
