The sun shone softly through sheer curtains, illuminating though not touching the two figures that lay on the bed, one under and one on top of the blankets. Black hair contrasted with white pillow linens, and soft breathing made slight movements.

Brenda snapped to wakefulness, then frowned without opening her eyes as she realized there were arms around her. She listened, then sniffed before moving experimentally.

"Yes...." She cocked her head and looked up at him. "But it doesn't look like you did."

"Oh, Me? I never sleep that well," he said offhandedly, turning and swinging his legs over the side of the bed.

She watched him, torn between what she thought she should do and what she wanted to do. -This is my pirate. I didn't mean to win him... was only looking for someone to flirt with. But I have now, and I don't want him hurt.-

A massive stretch overtook her, and then she tossed the blankets aside and went to lean against his back with her arms around his neck. "Want to join me on my morning run?"

He turned and smiled at her softly, touching her cheek, his eyes sad even though he knew what he had to do. He'd come to the conclusion last night.

"My fairest... will all due respect, you need not try to spend time with me or make yourself enjoy my company. I need only find my sword and way home, and I will leave you be."

Her grip around his neck tightened unconciously, her smile fading. "I'm not making myself do anything, Porthos. I've got the biggest schoolgirl crush I've ever heard of. I want to get to know you better and see where this goes." Despite herself a blush got past her control.

He turned and blinked.

"Really?" he asked with a grin. So she did like him. Well then....

He leaned back, putting his hands over her arms. "If that's the case I'd love to join you for a run," he said.

She pressed her cheek against his with a sigh, then rolled backward off the bed and headed for the door. "Oh. Hello, Prudence."

The redhaired butler quirked one brow. "I will get Master Porthos something more sutable for exercise."

"Thanks." Brenda grinned and continued on her way out.
