Z'verse 3. Zoe's Room . Second Day of Shopping.

Ghosts don't really need to recharge.

Swindle was still getting used to that fact when he turned the emitter back on with the first rays of light. Being 'awake' didn't bother him so much, he had plans and ideas to keep his mind occupied.

"Odd I recharge in the Dream, but not here," he said to himself, as he glanced over from where he sat, watching Zoe and Silver still snoozing away.

Well, they've already got a doll, and none of them wear clothing--at least of that sort--so Swindle just nods and looks over the blankets, making sure Silver's got a good view. "Anything you like, Silver?" Swindle asks.

-Furry,- says the little luxury lover promptly.

"The woven ones look sturdy," notes Zoe softly at the same time.

Silver emotes displeasure and pleading. -Furry! Sooooft.-

"Is Silver the baby?" The man pauses, waiting to see which thing he'll be asked to hold up so that it can be examined.

(Whyy did I know she was going to ask for furry? ^.~)

"Yes, she is," Swindle says, chuckling, though from experience he knows that something furry is going to be more expensive then something woven. Usually, there was that one time...and Swindle shakes his head at the memory, "Um, we'll see about the furry one.." he says.

The man looks at the little sack that the big machine man is wearing, and the way it hangs and moves, and then he spots the little face that pokes from the hole in the side of it. Huh... must be an adopted baby. Still... not too big....

He takes the smaller fur blanket and spreads it out, inviting the metal man to touch it and inspect it. "That's the whole skin of a selk calf. The first time I've ever seen them that woolly; they're usually losing the fuzz by the time they come around the island."

Silver, meanwhile, is wriggling excitedly.

Swindle's still getting used to the holo-emitter, so he's not getting the readings he'd be expecting from feeling something soft and woolly--at least, not to the degree he's been used to. Still, it does feel rather nice on the sensors, and Silver's excited about it..."Not bad," he admits as he pulls his hand away, to reach into his bag of items.

One of the tiny shiny baubles gets wet from drops of rainwater dripping from Swindle's cover, and starts to ..grow?

The man grins, but then notices what's happening. His eyes grow too. "...Is that going to explode?"

"No," Swindle's confidant of that fact. He knows exploding things, how they explode, why they explode, how to keep them from exploding, how to time the explosions....this is something different.

And it doesn't explode. It..blooms.

"...What?" asks the merchant wonderingly. Behind him, his wife's fingers have stilled as she too watches the strange object.

-Shiny!- cheers Silver in Swindle and Zoe's heads.

Swindle's just as surprised as the rest of them, but he doesn't show it. There's a glimmer of recognition in his optics, however. He's seen this plant before, cycles ago. Many cycles ago. "Yikudian Runeflux," Swindle says, "The Azoth used them to make defensive cloaks..."

The merchant looks up at him quizzically, then back to the plant.

And Zoe twitches slightly and pokes herself in the audio receiver.

The plant is still growing, but now very slowly, and Swindle acks lightly as it tries to take root around his hand. "Whatever's in the air around here, it likes," Swindle says, trying to keep his hand unbound, then looks over, "Interested?"

"It's pretty, but what would we do with it?" asks the merchant. "I mean, look at this blanket. It's warm, and it's washable, and it's hard to get the fuzzy selk calves. Pretty, rare, and useful. What use is the shiny plant?"

"Right now, it's good for ticking off offlined arms dealers..." Swindle growls in the direction of the still growing plant as he tries to get it off his arm. "Though if one doesn't know how to weave it, not much else."
