ANH 'verse. Tatooine. A Mission Complete?

He was back on the ship. He must have been. This was not merely something that need a tune-up. It was a victim, and it had all the battle damage to prove it!

"What the heck did you guys do to this thing?!? I can barely tell one part from another!"

His on-board equipment had been fixed from his earlier "scuffle" by now--for which he was glad because this thing need all the help it could get!

He can turn, especially if he ducks down out of the wind, which isn't descending into the canyon.

Random becomes alarmed. The wind's too strong. There's a hole below him . . . It's probably the canyons . . . He cuts some of the power to his thrusters, allowing him to be in a controlled drop . . .

Down below Hot Shot hits a rock and then flips and lands on his roof, where he lays still, though he's groaning softly and trying to get himself rebooted after the impact.

Canyons indeed, a world of weird twisted rock and caves that had formed back when Tatooin had water.

Random finds relief from the wind thanks to the canyon walls and descends down into the "valley" below. At the sight of an overturned Hot Shot he shifts more power away from his bottom thrusters, allowing him to drop faster, flies over to the canyon wall, before transforming, landing on the canyon floor.

//"Hot Shot, can you hear me?"//

There's a moment's silence, and then the stunned hovercar mutters something about 'Sand People' before his headlights go dark.

And not very far away, something bawls.

"Hot Shot?" Feeling suddenly alone, Random scans Hot Shot to find out if he's still alive or not before starting at the bawling.

"W-Who's there?!?" Was that--?

Hot Shot is alive. And so are those swaddled and goggled forms that are raising up from behind rocks all around them, their weapons pointed toward the two mechs as they converse in a series of strange subsonics.

Random turns around and jumps again when he sees the other forms.

Slagslagslagslagslag!--He sends the command to bring some of his on-board equipment out of their compartment.--Slag, not again! Please not again!
