Dalla looks around the busy factory room, her expression showing her satisfaction as the human workers busily grind rock and mix gum and have the occasional argument with their protective gear.

"This makes me very happy," she says to the mech who is there in the interests of taste testing.

"Can you hear his thoughts?" asks Seefunkeln, pointing an ear at the white-haired man.

"No. But I hear other thoughts, and some of them held his three faces," says D'rng'tla as his wife nods.

"You hear thoughts?" Dalla's ears perk and then flatten with surprise.

"Wait....you can hear us?" Blitzwing asked. And if D'rng'tla could, he would indeed hear that all three of Blitzwing asked that question in unison.

"No, friend. Not you," says the big man apologetically. "The thoughts of machines seem to be on a different wavelength or something. My people only hear the thoughts of other organic races." He turns to Dalla and nods. "Like you. Yes. But I won't listen to anything that isn't freely given."

"Huh," Blitzwing says, then shifts to Icy again, "Very curious."

"It's the primary mode of communication for my people... how we were created."

Dalla's ears are perked with curiosity, and her eyes are a little wide. "I can't help wondering how that works."

"There are books about it," says Kkr'tz softly. "If you like I can get you copies. Though I'm not sure you'd understand some of the scientific terminology... I know I don't."

"I would be interested myself," Blitzwing says, then asks, "I hadn't disturbed anything during my flights, have I?"

"Oh no, friend," says D'rng'tla quickly as the others agree with him. "We were only curious. Our maps don't have anything in this sector, and nothing of the technology of your jet form. So we came to see who was here."

"I can trade you books about the rock for your books," offers Dalla, her ears flattening very slightly as she thinks. "It would take a little while for them to be written, though."

"Written?" asks Kkr'tz, her own curiosity clear even though her ears don't move as well as Dalla's or Seefunkeln's do.

"I would be willing to trade as well, though I'm not sure what," Blitzwing says, though he's curious about the tone the word 'written' is said.
