CW 'verse. Nellis Airforce base. Church
The music came from the stage, joyful and full of hope and love. It filled the little building at the edge of the town that housed the residents of Nellis airforce base and set the hearts- and sparks- of those within it to dancing.
Optimus Prime blinked slowly as he looked at the humans who played the music and then turned his attention to those of his own people who had come here on this quiet Wednesday afternoon to worship together a Being that he wasn't certain he understood.
"Primus might still be on Cybertron, where he can't help us. And he won't get mad about us honoring the One who built him," Bumblebee had explained as they had driven up to the building.
Optimus still didn't get it, though something about this place made the Matrix whisper on his hip with sounds of awe and wonder. At the moment his own wonder was focused on the catchy tune and its effect on the people around him. Humans clapped and bounced, laughed and sang along, and right beside him Bumblebee, her sadness momentarily forgotten, smiled down at her baby son where he lay on a chair wrapped in his blanket and clapped and bounced herself. Jazz had the hands of Elita-One in his own, and was laughing as he twirled her about and then moved his feet in time to the beat of the music. Beside the sliver mech and the golden femme their son Ceejay grinned and added some musical notes of his own.
//They're dancing,// said a soft female voice over an open com channel. //People do it when they like music.//
Optimus startled, but then sighed. "Helweh."
//Yes.// The AI who had once been Jazz and Elita-One's daughter chuckled softly.
"Do you understand why they're doing it? Or what the purpose of these activities are? I have studied the definition of the word 'worship', and find myself more confused than before I did so." He dipped his head and rumbled as Jazz gave a gleeful whoop.
//I do. But it's something that I don't really know how to explain. Maybe it's enough to say that it's a little party thrown to celebrate God, and to learn more about Him.//
"Bumblebee says that He created Cybertron... and Primus." The way that he said the words showed just how odd the idea of a creator other than the Allspark still seemed to him.
//And the Allspark came from Primus. Yes.//
Optimus frowned, and then blinked. //Ah... the music has ended.//
//Yes, now it's time to listen to the teacher.//
//Alright....// His frown deepened, but then grew protective as he saw a tall sandy-coloured bot standing by Bumblebee. It was the newest arrival to Earth, a young mech called Beamrider.
Then he relaxed as he realized that the mech was only offering to hold Isaac so that Bumblebee could listen to the teacher without having to tend to the baby. Beamrider assured the yellow and black femme that he knew how to carry the little one, and that he would walk with him till she wanted Isaac back.
As Optimus watched Bumblebee gave Beamrider a bit of a puzzled frown, as though trying to place his face, but then nodded and picked up her tiny son to hand him to the voluntary baby sitter.
The baby bot's response was surprising. Instead of the gleeful flailing and air circulation that he usually displayed on meeting with a new person, Isaac leaned back and stared up at Beamrider's face with an intently searching look, and then snuggled close to the mech's chest plates with a very satisfied sigh.
Optimus wondered at this, and scanned Beamrider to try and see if there was something about him that was familiar and which would explain the baby's behavior. He couldn't determine anything, however, till he focused his sensors on Beamrider's spark and magnified his audio receivers.
The sandy mech's spark song was very close to Isaac's own.
The Prime lifted his brow plates at this, but then winced and nearly flailed as someone made a microphone squeal. Dialing his audios back down to a safe level, he sank into a crouch and settled down to try and work out this second, and much easier to understand, mystery.
