"This from the mech who parked in a giant space worm's belly?"

"I was a little outta it at the time, in case you hadn't noticed, Princess."

Kia looked up as a boom rang through the hold. "That panel doesn't go there, Hot Shot."

"What?" The yellow mech looked at her. "No way! I was sure it went here."

The young femme shook her head seriously, then winced as Jetfire banged another panel against a spot on a wall opposite to the one it was supposed to be attached to.

Random look between the part and Hot Shot's face and waves a hand in front of it to see if his optics still function. "How I did what?"

The young mech's only reply is to turn and stick the part on the wall.

A smug look appears on his face as he gets a better hold on Kia and turns away.

"Good work, Astrotech," says Arcee from where she was standing behind him. Then she drops curious optics to the little femme in his arms, who is clinging to him in her sleep.

"My name's Random, Your Highness," he can't help but saying with a bitterness. "And it's my job . . . What?"

"Is she alright?" The pink and white femme frowns with concern.

[astrotechmech]

"She's just tired I think." Random checks his chrono. "She's been through a lot, nd I think she's been up for a longer amount of time than a femme her age usually does."

[random_xtras]

"Her... age?" Arcee tilts her head in confusion, then glances at Hot Shot as he looks over his shoulder with an expression on his face that tells her that he knows something about this.

[astrotechmech]

"Yeah, she's a newspark, remember?" The bitterness seeks in again. Not seeing that her confusion comes from not knowing about Kia in the first place. "And what were you thinking when you gave her that assignment?! I can't protect her any better than she can protect herself!!"

[random_xtras]

"What are you talking about? There hasn't been a new spark in thousands of cycles!" Arcee scowls at the Astrotech.

"There haven't been Jedi, either," says Hot Shot quietly. "And there are now. It's time."

[astrotechmech]

" . . ." For several seconds, Random looks positively shocked. "They didn't tell you that I found a newspark in the rumble surrounding the ship?! . . . Wow. And here I thought I could recharge at night knowing that everything out of the ordinary that occurred on the ship would be passed on. Boy, was I wrong!" He can't help but end sarcastically.

Ooookaaay. Now Hot Shot's doing the creepy Jedi thing Scavenger used to do.
