Hunterverse, somewhere on the road to check out a report

Mary is sitting contentedly slumped in the back seat of the Impala sucking the salt off the pistachio nuts that she couldn't crack and staring out the window with that blankness known only to teenagers and eccentrics, thinking of this and that, when she suddenly asks, "Hey, Uncle Dean, what was her name?"

Dean blinks witout looking away from the road. "Who's name?"

"The girl you met at the Cafe."

"Why?"

Mary spits a saltless nut into her hand and replaces it with a fresh one. "Just wondering"

"Echo," said Dean.

Mary blinks. "What kind of name is that?"

"Names or the meaning behind 'em don't matter."

Mary shrugs. "Was she nice?"

"Yeah."

Mary changes pistacios again. "Did you get her number?"

Dean chuckles. "Don't need a number when I can easily meet 'er at the cafe again or leave a note for her there."

"So you wanna see her again!" says Mary gleefully. "She's gotta be nice."

Sam groans.

"Better hope I don't run into her in any reality." Dean states letting her go but being serious all the same.

"Dude, she's not even born yet, here." She pushes her hair behind one ear and eyes the dead bee, then unbuckles herself and moves around him to sit behind the driver's seat instead. "Sorry, girl. I'll help Uncle Dean get the yellow gook off you."

"She'll get fixed right up."

Mary nods and leans around him to look at the smushed bee, unable to take her eyes off the thing as she remembered a story a cousin had told about how the stingers kept working for awhile after they were killed. She couldn't help remembering the look on her dad's face when she'd woken up that time, too. "It's not going to mess up the finish, is it?"

"Nope. It isn't going to mess up with finish."

"Aren't you going to wipe it off?" She frowns slightly, forgetting fear of the bee in concern for the Impala.

"Kiddo, chill. There isn't exactly anything back here to wipe it off with." Dean states with a scowl. Sheesh, lay off. He blinks slightly when Sam hands something back to him and he uses it to wipe the seat off. "There you go, girl."

Mary sighes and leans against him, offering him a pistachio. "Are we there yet, Uncle Sam?"

Dean takes it before cracking the thing open. "Good."
