Hunterverse, somewhere on the road to check out a report

Mary is sitting contentedly slumped in the back seat of the Impala sucking the salt off the pistachio nuts that she couldn't crack and staring out the window with that blankness known only to teenagers and eccentrics, thinking of this and that, when she suddenly asks, "Hey, Uncle Dean, what was her name?"

Dean blinks witout looking away from the road. "Who's name?"

"The girl you met at the Cafe."

"Why?"

Mary spits a saltless nut into her hand and replaces it with a fresh one. "Just wondering"

"Echo," said Dean.

Mary blinks. "What kind of name is that?"

"Names or the meaning behind 'em don't matter."

Mary shrugs. "Was she nice?"

"Yeah."

Mary changes pistacios again. "Did you get her number?"

Dean chuckles. "Don't need a number when I can easily meet 'er at the cafe again or leave a note for her there."

"So you wanna see her again!" says Mary gleefully. "She's gotta be nice."

Sam groans.

"How nearly?" She looks out the window, absently leaning against Dean and rattling the box of many-flavored beans in her jacket pocket.

"Near enough. You two take a nap or something."

"That means about twenty minutes or so." Dean states.

Mary wrinkles her nose at the thought of a nap, then takes the box of beans out of her pocket and pours a few out in her hand. Selecting a creamy coloured one, she sniffs it thoughtfully and smells Kahlua.

"Here." She offers it to Dean. "This is a good one."

Dean shakes his head at Sam's antics before taking the bean and shrugs before popping it in his mouth. Though after he does it makes him blink and look at her. "Interesting thing to have in there."

"Every flavor," she reminds him. "Remember the sardine one? And the booger one I gave the old foggie?"

"Yeah, yeah I remember them." He states with a chuckle.

She grins and sniffs another bean, then eats it when she detects chocolate. A third bean smells of coffee and is offered to Dean.

Dean takes it and just pops it in his mouth. So far he trusts her judgement with these things. So far.

She eats a popcorn one and hands a second to her alternate father, then wrinkles her nose at a dull red one and offers it to him. "Hotsauce."

He gives a slight chuckle. "Hotsauce just a bit too hot for you?"
