The Phoenix Bluff Bed and Breakfast, Port aux Basques (aka Sal's Place)

Leeroy was sleeping soundly for what might be the first time since arriving on the island.

It was entirely possible that the prospect of six weeks' worth of no work as Sal re-assumed captain's role upon the Lukey (which meant that the trawler was undergoing a fresh round of repairs and a complete refitting, most of which would be done by Sal herself) was relieving much of the stress that he had been feeling lately.

Or maybe it was due to what happened the afternoon immediately following Jeimu's launch - when what he had come to know (although perhaps not as intimately as some of his friend) as the very presence of God had touched his brothers, instilling in them a sense of forgiveness.

All things told, he had lately felt a lot less responsible for everyone's well being. Or, rather, almost everyone.

He still wasn't entirely sure where things stood between he and Sam - she had her line of work and he was constantly worried about her - but, nonetheless, the two of them were spending an awful lot of their free time together.

She'd said she was leaving Port aux Basques early in the morning; and so it was his intent to wake up to see her off.

But for now, he slept.

"I think so." Sam sipped the scalding black brew, then blinked again and smirked slightly. -I think I just purposed.-

-He said yes. He just wanted to wait till after breakfast.- A wave of fear went through her as she wondered if she shouldn't just wait; if she and Leeroy shouldn't just go on with her sleeping in the car and him in a motel room at night.

-And Kurt's a pastor... it won't be legal in any reality anyway, because one of us'll always not exist, but... it'd make travelling easier. And....- She closed her eyes and set her forehead down on her knees the coffee cup shaking. -But I don't think we've known one another long enough. A few months.... Is it too soon?-

-He can hear my thoughts... and....- She closed her eyes and thought of the feeling of being home as he hugged her. -He's willing to give up everything to come with me.-

Sam nodded, praying for a few moments and listening before she nodded again and sat up, pushing away the doubts.

"So," she said as Kurt wandered in half asleep and Sal came in from where she'd been watching the sun peek through the rain. -Leeroy, are we go on this?-

Sam took a deep breath, then stood and followed her, watching as the rest of the family and Billy gathered around the table.

Then she cleared her throat. "Vic, could you make them a little fancy? There's going to be a wedding a little later this morning."

Sal sneezed.

"What?"
