Backwater Nexus. Mall. Let's Rock and Ride!

Lucy approaches the mall with just a little trepidation, smoothing out her dress (bright green with yellow flowers on the skirt -- and it's just over knee length, so a certain little pitcher needn't worry if she's around tonight) and making sure her hair is pulled back neatly in its ponytail. Silver's mention of the Rock N Ride nights at the mall stuck with her even after her return to her own world. So, after a rather annoying day trying to make sure her passport was up-to-date, she's decided it's time to seek out some fun and see what else this Nexus has to offer. "Just hope they accept regular old American dollars," she mumbles, patting her purse by her side as she reaches the front entrance. (Nothing in her vast array of literature suggested they wouldn't, but discretion, valor, etc.)

Lucy giggles. "Yes, just like that," she nods as he finishes. "Though it wasn't exactly fun to have the last name 'Leech' as a kid." One can only imagine the teasing. She obliges his silent request, giving him a gentle squeeze. "Pleased to meet you too!" He's squishy.

The squeeze makes his grin bloom even wider, and he snuggles a bit and croons, the sound comforting and sweet. "I bet. Kids don't realize the slag they're pullin' with their teasin'."

Seriously, someone obviously gathered up all the cute in the world and dumped it into this guy. "Yeah, well, I guess that's part of being a kid," Lucy says with a shrug. "Most of them eventually get their act together."

"You've never worked in 'n office, have ya?" He chuckles at her.

Uzulee chuckles too, then clears her throat and holds out what looks something like a largish iPod Touch. "I was going to offer to lend you this book, Lucy. It'll tell you what tyranids are, and anything else you need to look up."

"No -- I'm an actress who usually does retail jobs when I'm not in plays." She frowns a little. "Then again, that should more than qualify me to know that not everybody gets their act together, shouldn't it?"

Shifting her grip on Plush Jazz, she takes the little device. "I'm guessing it's kind of like an e-reader?" she comments, looking it over.

"Yup." His warm chuckle is spiced with mischief. Then he turns his head to look at the book.

"Ereader?" asks Uzulee, but then her face clears. "Oh! I remember what those were/are. It's similar, except that you can't upload anything onto it except updates from Wikipedia Multiversal."

"All the BS ya need, at the touch of a finger." Jazz grins.

Lucy laughs. "Oh dear -- let me guess. Ancient history where and when you're from." It's a weird feeling to think that her present is someone else's past, but she can laugh it off. She's been inundated in weird today. "I see. Wikipedia's dedicated e-reader."

She snorks at Jazz's description. "Yeah, I guess so."

Uzulee grins sheepishly. "All the books where I come from are on chips that activate into hard light holographic books. But yes, I guess the Earth that my people came from did have ereaders at some point in time."

Jazz looks pleased at her amusement even as he intently pokes at the screen and calls up the original meaning of a common low key insult.

"Jazz!" Uzulee facepalms and laughs hard.

Lucy whistles. "Fancy," she says. "I don't think my Earth's people are going to catch up with that for a long while." Makes her a bit jealous, honestly. Too much cool stuff scattered throughout this place.

She snickers as Jazz pulls up the article. "Ah yes -- all the information you could ever want on all the words unsuitable for polite company," she smirks.

"It's like that ol' joke about the internet," says the living doll cheerfully. "We got this amazin' information system. Everything's on it. We use it ta lookit cat pictures 'n argue with strangers."

Lucy does a bit of fiddling and manages to pull up an article on lolcats. "Come on -- there are worse things to be doing than looking at pictures of these guys," she says, pointing out a particularly cute kitty with a sad face. "Can't really defend the 'arguing with strangers' part though."
