Save her. Her being a girl named Lacey. It's what they'd told them about. Mornbein didn't know it but for him they'd gotten rather loud. The voices normally did. When he went through the cafe door he'd landed right in the cargo hold and noted the four guns pointed at some girl he didn't know. His own gun was suddenly raised and pointed right back at them.

"River?"

His eyes narrowed slightly at his big brother. "Put 'em down."

"No ruttin' way I'm takin' orders from..." Jayne starts but backs up once that gun is pointed at him. He knows how crazy moonbrain there is.

"Now." River says those eyes just watching them. Once the guns are down and the crew backs up he cants his head and looks at the girl. No, she didn't go squish. Her brainpan was still intact. "Are you okay?"

She looks around, her face sad and pensive. "Why?"

"Didn't do it. Don't know why."

"I can't go home," she checks again.

Her shoulders slump. "How do you know?"

"Just do." River states. Wasn't like everyone would understand what he heard.

"River's a very perceptive person honey. Ain't never let us down." Kaylee states simply.

"So I just... got sucked into another world...." She stares at the table, thinking again how much she'd always hated that storyline.

"Yeah." River says a bit quietly. One that has no Earth.

She almost asks why again, but remembers the answer she already got. Instead she angrily pushes the tea away and rests her head on her fist. "So what'm I supposed to do now?"

"Live on Serenity."

"I don't even like the ocean."

She'd never seen it, but all those tidal wave stories have always scared her. And she's got no idea how dumb what she just said it, either.

"Huh?" A frown gets aimed at him from around her hand.

"We're in space. Can see the stars up here. Or planetside."
