Serenity (several hours later), Iroh and Vi's trip

Iroh awoke with a start.

He didn't remember falling asleep, but something had rumbled and awoken him. He peered over at the other side of the room to see if Vi was still asleep. She looked to be, so he quietly exited the bunk and ventured into the kitchen. It was painted riotous colours, and had the ambience of a friendly meeting place.

There were cooking-pots on shelves. Seeing them, Iroh felt his stomach growl. It had been ages since he'd eaten. He wondered what, if anything, he was allowed to eat.

But then he brightened, realizing that he had a satchel of ginseng tea in his pocket.

Maybe they had a nice teapot.

Violet opened her eyes and frowned upward, then winced and carefully pulled her hands out from under the blankets, gritting her teeth as the wounds came free from the fabric. "Well that's a fine mess." She contemplated them, then got to her feet and tried shifting. It didn't quite work, but her hands cleared slightly and illusion easily covered the rest.

Sighing, she cocked her head and listened past the buzz of the steel, then headed out of the room and to the galley.

He saw her come into the galley and smiled. He'd found a teapot and two mugs and was now boiling some water for tea.

"Did you have a good rest?" Iroh asked.

"Dun remember." She looked around, then came over and put an arm around his neck and her cheek against his head.

She looked back innocently, sipping at her cup.

He shook his head, chuckling to himself as the rice boiled.

That got him a cheeky grin and a twinkle in her bright violet eyes.

"Now how the ....'m I supposedta eat this?" Violet blinked at the unfamiliar food.

"With a fork," Jayne said matter of factly. "Or chopsticks. You just kinda shovel it all in."

She scowled at him blankly, then turned to Iroh.

"Where'd yeh git that fool's notion." Violet snorted.

"Huh?"

"There's gotta be standards fer work. Er everthin' jes goes t' @#$%#@&."

"C'mmon!" She darted back and grabbed his sleeve, pulling him after her.

"Ack!" He almost tripped over his shoes, but jogged behind Violet nonetheless.

They passed the living room area, then passed through the passageways that led to their destination, where Violet calmly walked through the door and stopped to gawk at the stars.

Mal turned in the pilot's seat and scowled at them. "What the @%#&@ ya doin' here? Zoe told ya the limits."

"S'alright," he said, mouth full. "Ya got any more useful skills?"

"Apart from my ill-used military strategy skills, I'm afraid most of my talents lie in the kitchen."

"A tile fer wot?"

Iroh smiled. "Pai Sho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pai_Sho). It's a strategy game we play in my world... and one of my favourite pasttimes."

"Sounds like a good idea, mate." She leaned against him with a sigh, then let the illusion slip from her hands so that he could see that the blisters had been replaced by crusted and cracked sores. "Yeh still got that ointment?"

"Yes." He took it out of his pocket and unscrewed the lid, offering it to her.

She frowned, but then sighed and smirked. "This's grand."

"It is, isn't it?"

"Where's ya girlfriend?" Mal frowned at him.

"Girlfriend?" Iroh stared blankly. "Hardly. Just a friend. And I'm not sure where she went. I thought she was here."
