Lay me Down to Die

I wrote this as an angsty teenager.


Here I lay me down to sleep.

The night is soft, the dream is deep

A thousand worlds I travel there,

swift, dark, and clean of air

At other times I lead a cause.

To fight my foes I do not pause.

And then the swift, sharp, night-death flows.

The tombstone stands, the cold wind blows

And so I lay me down to die.

I pray that none take time to cry
