Valley of the Queens, Clone city: Looking for Ang

Spike winced as he looked around. The good news was spotting a young, blonde girl in this crowd would be easy. The bad news was the fact that all the men here looked exactly the same was really starting to freak the former vampire out.

He sighed as he walked forward, looking around and asking random people if they'd seen the blnde girl who liked to draw anywhere around here.

He sighed. This might take some time.

Over in a corner of the big recreation room sat a ring of men, their identical faces intent as they listened to a friendly synthesized voice explain about shopping in a store. Right in the center, comfortably leaned against a man in a white lab coat, was Ang.

Spike blinked, eyes widening when he finally saw her, then grinned.

The grin faltered when he saw her leaning against another man.

His shoulders sagged, and he wondered how good an idea this really was.

"Ang, is that Spike?"

She looked around as one of the men reached over and tapped her gently on the shoulder, then pointed.

"Oh! Yes, it is!" She smiled and waved, and the men around her made a way for him to walk through. Some of them grinned, while others looked up at him curiously. The guy in the lab coat's grin was the widest and full of good humored greeting.

Spike flinched, then entered, attempting to smile.

"Er, hello," he said, running his fingers through his hair. "Hey Ang. Loga siad I could find you here."

Ang gave Fi the computer, then bounced to her feet to put her arms around Spike and hug him as hard as she could, her face turned up toward his for a kiss. "I'm glad you're here. I missed you."

he blinked, then kissed her forehead gently, smiling and returning the embrace.

"Hey. I missed you too," he said softly.

"I've got a job now." Her sunshine smile grew, then turned toward the guy in the lab coat. "And this is my friend Fi."

The clone nodded, his grin widening.

"And... I don't remember anybody else's name yet." She looked at all the others apologetically.

"That's alright," said one. "Some of us don't have them yet."

"Uh, ok," Spike said, looking at Fi closely, fighting off the urge to punch him in the face.

He looked down and smiled at Ang, instead. "You've got a job? That's great! What do you do?"

"I'm teaching these guys about everyday things."

"She's showing us how to be human," said Fi, looking toward a disturbance to one side.

"Um, yes, that." Ang smiled again.

"Fantastic," Spike rubbed her back, then held her close. "And you're enjoying being outside?"

"I'm not outside." She looked a little confused.

"I mean, outside the cafe. You know, not confined anymore," he said, blushing slightly.

"Oh! Yes." See the smile widen.

"Why don't you go ahead and visit with Spike, Ang," said Fi. "I can hold the computer while it finishes the story."

She blinked and looked at him. "Oh. Alright." Her hand slipped into Spike's. "Let's go to the river."

He blinked, then nodded.

"Alright," he said, smiling at her and letting go to take her hand shyly.
