KOTOR-verse. unknown planet. Mother/daughter bonding?

Alora ducked the swing of a wicked looking halberd, then swept off the droid arm that held it before swirling and deflecting a blaster bolt.

-Well, this has got to be one of more honest receptions we've gotten,- she mused, watching as another bolt went through the edge of her swirling robe. -They didn't even pretend to be glad to see us. Master! Protect her! ...Thank You.-

She clenched her teeth as Tiji turned just in time to meet the droid that had intended to attack her from behind, then whirled with a slight creak of armor to meet her own next opponent.

Tiji finished with her half of the troops, then sighed and stepped back, deactivating her lightsaber.

"Well... at least there aren't any destroyer droids out here," she sighed. "You ok, mom?"

"Yes." She cocked her head, eyes unfocused as she listened for warnings. "How about you, and do you see your father and the others anywhere?"

Tiji closed her eyes and focused.

"I'm fine. Dad and the others are on the floors below us, they fell through a hole. They're coming up, and Atton says dad wants us to just keep going if we can," she said, opening her eyes again, then carefully keeping emotions and facial expressions in check. Truthfully she'd rather be with her father, she felt like she was good enough to live up to his standards.

"Alright." She turned her head and looked at the doors that led out of the front room of the massive illegal military installation, then headed surely toward the most nondescript one. "Be ready."

"Yes, Master," Tiji gripped her double-bladded saber tightly and followed, closing her eyes and trying to sense and oncoming trouble.

Alora's double-bladed saber suddenly sang to life, blocking a projectile that shot from a port on the wall with no warning. She blinked, then quickly looked up and scanned for further ports even as she destroyed the first.

Tiji's saber had flashed to life with her mother's, but she calmed herself, waiting for instruction as she intensified the scan.

"Up ahead." Alora looked to her daughter, communicating caution and absent affection with a glance before she broke into a swift, near-silent run.

Tiji was right at her heals, eyes flashing with determination as she calmed her mind and body, preparing for more battle.

Which met them at the turn in the corridor: a massive war machine with multiple arms and weapons.

Once more purple light filled the air with deadly song as Alora seemed to surround herself with a glowing forcefield, the double-headed saber moving faster than the eye could track.

A muave saber joined the deadly dance, and Tiji sprang forward, moving ahead of her mother as she charged forward.

Alora went for the other side, confusing the droid and relieving it of a communication antennae. Her jaw set as she saw the lightsabers causing only scorch marks on its tough hide.

Tiji yelped as one of the huge arms caught her and slammed her into the wall, but quickly responded with a full on Force attack to fry its core.

Alora gasped as warning caused her soul to cringe, already moving to cut a hole in the wall and pull her daughter through. Then she threw herself over Tiji as the droid exploded deafeningly.

"Ugh," Tiji coughed, then flinched as her side protested angirly. She stopped moving and closed her eyes once more, begining to heal herself.

Her mother gritted her teeth and pulled herself to her feet, feeling grateful for her helmet with the way her skull was ringing from the rebound of a piece of shrapnel. "I wonder if they're all booby-trapped like that?"

"Yes," came the painful whisper. Tiji slowly curled, then finally opened her eyes, finishing her temporary heal.

Alora reached down and pulled her to her feet, then embraced her for a moment and prayed for healing. Her own head continued ringing, but a slight tingle touched her daughter's aches.

"Ah," she winced, then sighed, embracing the new power in her mother and using it to finish healing.

"Alright... I'm alright, master," she said softly, hands falling as she summoned her saber to her belt.

"He's proud of you," Alora whispered without thinking, giving her a quick kiss on the forehead before stooping to pick up her own weapon and heading back through the breach. Part of her was cringing just a little and half-waiting for Carth to come thundering around the bend in full overprotective cry.

Tiji kept back her doubts about the being her mother served now and followed her, reaching for the comfort of another Jedi's mind again.

-Hey kid, I'm a little busy,- Atton informed her grumpily, and she felt his exertion.

-Oh. Well, we're waiting for you to catch up. And becareful, there's a ton of booby-traps here,- she sighed, then started when she felt a deep exlosion and Atton's grim feeling of victory.

-No Carth.- She stood tall and looked sideways down the way they'd been going, then cocked her head and listened, brows lifting as an image formed in her mind's eye.

"There's a forcefield up there that's a cellular disruptor. The control for it's on the far side... go back." She turned and shoved Tiji gently back through the breach, then hurried to the next wall of the room and cut through it, making a way parallel to the corridor. "Tell the others, in case we can't shut it off."

-Mom says just do what you can down here. We've got this covered,- Tiji sighed.

-You ok, kid?- Atton frowned.

-I'm good. Keep my old man safe,- she grumbled.

-I've got his wheelchair greased and ready for running. You just watch your back. Atton out,- he smiled. Tiji sighed and tuned out of the link, then looked at her mother.

"It's all good," she promised. "They're downstairs doing what they can."
