Daylight filtered through the window, rousing Helena from her sleep.  With a grumble, she pulled the covers up higher and attempted to bury her head in her pillow.  She wouldn't exactly say she'd had a good night's rest--too many memories associated with the Manor--but she had slept about as well as anyone who sometimes kept odd hours could.

When it became clear that she was not going to be able to get back to sleep, she reluctantly came out from under the covers and gasped.

This was not the same room she'd gone to sleep in.

"Yes." Clark frowned. "He usually seems to be surgically attached to the thing."

"I'm not complaining," said Brenda. "His being invulnerable is bad enough; having to dodge that saw is the perfect way to ruin a night."

Helena made a curious noise. "Something to be worried about... or did he just forget to buy gas for the thing?"

"I don't think it's anything to worry about," said Clark, frowning slightly. "But it pays to be watchful when you're dealing with Jokerz. I'll go scope the place after that business meeting."

Brenda nodded, then looked at her husband, who was listening to everything as he carefully polished the intricate hilt of his sword. He noticed the glance and smiled at her, which made her pink.

"Jokers? Plural?"

"A motorcycle gang that tries to emulate the original." Clark ran a hand over his damp hair, causing it to stand up in unruly curls.

Helena just shook her head. "Idiots. Though I'm starting to think mine's one of the very few Earths where the Joker's not that big a deal."
