Josh's Reality: Lab: Better Lead than Dead

Though temporarily out of the Phantom Zone and given just a wee bit of a reprieve, Mon-El was still dying, still suffering from lead poisoning in his veins.  Even if he could be cured of what was killing him now, the odds of encountering lead again were tremendous.  It would take a miracle to truly save his life.

His vision was hazy, pain making it hard to focus, but he could make out a high tech laboratory, one that would have been the envy of many a scientist.

Mon-El leaned back again, trusting in the machines and in Josh.

"Alright, let's try this." The boy in question blurred to a stop with an old fashioned needle syringe in one large hand.

Jenny looked at it, then up at him. "Is he Kryptonian?"

"No, Daximite."

"I'm ready..."

"Just... just a minute. Jenny?" Josh frowned in sudden nervousness.

She looked up and understood, stepping away from Lar's bed to take Josh's free hand. The two of them bowed their heads for a moment while Jenny murmured softly in an alien tongue that sounded like an ancestor of German and Dutch.

"Okay," said Josh softly when she finished. "Still ready, Lar?"

Not a language he recognized, at any rate.

"I'm ready."

Josh nodded and gently administered the injection, then rubbed the spot and looked at the monitors. "You might need more, but the dialysis has already taken care of most of the lead. Now we just need to get your body to heal and protect you from getting poisoned again."

Lar nodded and raised himself up a bit. "I do feel better," he said, and was surprised to find strength in his voice and no pain in his body.

"The light from a yellow sun should help with the healing. I'll have my powers under it."

Josh glanced at the screen for a split second, then nodded and flipped a switch on one of the things on Lar's belt, switching the radiation generator from red sunlight to yellow.

Then he gently took the dialysis needles from Lar's veins and put bandaids over the spots.

Almost instantly, there was a change in Mon-El. He swings his legs over the side of the table to stand up and does so without pain for the first time since he'd contracted lead poisoning.

He squinted and seemed to be concentrating. "Vision powers're back... and I feel strong enough to fly to the other side of the universe."

"Just don't shut off that forcefield generator while you're on a lead-bearing planet." Josh smiled slightly, his arm slipping around Jenny's shoulders.

"Think between the two of us we can come up with a way around that?" he asked with a smile.
