Josh's Reality: Lab: Better Lead than Dead

Though temporarily out of the Phantom Zone and given just a wee bit of a reprieve, Mon-El was still dying, still suffering from lead poisoning in his veins.  Even if he could be cured of what was killing him now, the odds of encountering lead again were tremendous.  It would take a miracle to truly save his life.

His vision was hazy, pain making it hard to focus, but he could make out a high tech laboratory, one that would have been the envy of many a scientist.

"Actually, that's the part I want to call my aunt Ramada for. The forcefield's the best I can do with technology, though I can make the generator a lot smaller. But she can look at the genetic slant, and maybe work out how do do something more permanent."

He nods. "The force field works... but the problem with technology is that it either needs power or is too easily damaged. Genetics would be a better option."

"I could come up with something that would withstand most Earthly hazards, but I can't shake the feeling that that's not the way that we're supposed to go with this." He looked at Lar's cells to see how well they were working.

"Good," he said, then blinked and looked at him. "You could tell what I was doing?"

"Just a lucky guess. Kal-El had the same kind of look when he used his x-ray vision."

Josh's expression went a little odd. "Cool. It's kind of neat to know that I got something like that from him."

"You are related then. I saw some resemblance, but I didn't want to assume."

"I'm a partial clone." He glanced down at Jenny as she lay her head against his side.

He nods. "There's some differences in your skeletal structure that definitely aren't Kryptonian in nature. From your other DNA doner?"

"Oh." He lifted his free hand and clenched his fist, then popped his claws. "You mean those?"

"Yes. I can't remember seeing anything like that before."

"Yeah, they're from my other donor." He retracted them and watched the wounds close without a trace. "So's that. He was X gene positive."

"X-Gene? I've seen some studies about an x-factor in regards to genetics... something to do with mutations?"
