Josh's Reality: Lab: Better Lead than Dead

Though temporarily out of the Phantom Zone and given just a wee bit of a reprieve, Mon-El was still dying, still suffering from lead poisoning in his veins.  Even if he could be cured of what was killing him now, the odds of encountering lead again were tremendous.  It would take a miracle to truly save his life.

His vision was hazy, pain making it hard to focus, but he could make out a high tech laboratory, one that would have been the envy of many a scientist.

The Feen couple looked toward where the boy in question was overseeing the division of cake and gently teasing his wife, and Sonnejäger nodded and rustled his wings.

"Clark seldom laughed though," he rumbled softly. "The world weighed too heavily on his shoulders."

"Clark had his concerns, sure... but I'd hardly say he was weighed down. He lived a good, happy life."

"Different Earths," said the winged man. "This vone lost his adopted family young, und spent his life alone."

"The Clark I knew lost his parents in his early twenties," Lar said. "But he found many friends, between the Legion of Super-Heroes and the Justice League... and eventually, love."

"There vas no Justice League here till ve started it. Only Clark here in Metropolis, und the Bats in Gotham." He shook his head, then chuckled as Josh zipped over and tried to get Lar with a spoonful of thrown icing.

"Strange, the way these worlds work," Lar said, quietly. His reaction times are second to none, but this... was just quick enough to take him by surprise.

Splat!

The blob of icing hit him right in the face.

"A...whoops." Josh stopped, eyes wide with surprise.

Lar laughed out loud. "Just took me by surprise there. Wasn't expecting anything."

The other teen grinned, then offered him a plate with a nice slice of three layer chocolate cake with jam and sour cream filling. "Peace offering?"

Lar smiled and accepted the plate. "Offer accepted."

Josh chuckled and offered him a napkin as well, then returned to his own piece of cake before hauling all the used dishes to the sink and washing them in a blur.

Jenny was smiling as she excused herself to go work in the garden. Himmelriß rose to accompany her, patting Lar on the arm in passing.

Lar chuckled as he cleaned his face and sat down to eat his cake.
