DK-Verse: Batcave?: On the Road Again (and Again)

Great.  One moment she was in the Nexus--having previously been in a Gotham more than three hundred years in her future--the next she's in the Batcave.  Only... it's definitely not her Batcave.  Some of the souvenirs were off, for one thing.  And, well, she just had a sense about this kind of thing.

Truth be told, the more she examined it, the greater the differences became.  No giant penny, no mechanical dinosaur, no old Robin and Catwoman costumes stored in glass cases, no Batmobile--at least not that she recognized...

She was definitely far from home.

They passed through darksome alleys, largely unseen by their denizens though a few looked around and pulled shabby jackets closer or sank deeper into the dark as though to avoid detection.

The place they were headed for was in a residential complex, a moldering ruin with broken out windows and little to differentiate between the habited and uninhabited rooms. Pru climbed the wall and slipped through one of these gaping portals, then waited for Helena.

Helena followed easily, with the stealth and agility that comes from long practice.

"There are eleven of them," murmured the catwoman. "I'll enter and hit them with a smoke pellet. You take any who make the door?"

"No problem," she replied.

"You understand that there are no 'police' to come?"

"You're not suggesting we kill them, I hope."

Pru gave her a look. "They know that if they annoy me enough they'll find themselves hanging from the flagpole by the former Jedi temple, ready to be shipped to a prison."

Helena has the decency not to look relieved, given that she never really suspected it.

"I'm all for that," she replied.

The catwoman nodded and reached into her utility belt, waiting for Helena to get into position as she faced the door and listened to the voices from inside the room.

Helena quickly got into position and was at the ready in less than a moment.

As was usual for her, Pru didn't project her actions. One moment she was standing in the hall, the next she'd kicked open the door and was inside the room.

Shouting and mayhem, yelps of surprise and the bark of blaster bolts, came from inside, followed by smoke and a wide-eyed, blue skinned guy intent on booking it.

Helena acted quickly, launching a batarang toward his legs to trip him up.

Blinded by the smoke, he had no inkling of her move till the batarang hit him and knocked him sprawling.

Another man flew out the door at that moment, but he didn't do it by his own choice.

Helena's ready, if more of them come, constantly scanning the darkness and smoke for signs that she's needed.
