"Yes, sir," Tiji said, carefully hiding the yawn, and listening to the Republic Admiral's final orders, his smaller, blue and flickering face oblivious to her boredome as he finished outlining her mission.

The young Jedi nodded and saluted him, then breathed a sigh of relief as he finally finished and left.

"I'm impressed. You managed to look much more attentive this time," her father smiled, approaching. She smiled.

"Come on dad, it's just a message delivery," she rolled her eyes.

"I still wish you'd take somebody with you. Zaalbar or Mission or-"

"The only one who's free is Atton," she said sweetly. Atton, who was currently shuffly Pazaak cards, looked up helpfully.

"Well he'd be useless," Carth sighed. "Alright. you ready to go?"

"Yes, dad," she smiled.

Fron gasped as he realized that there were people in the room that he'd teleported to. Even worse, one of them was Carth! He was going to be doing droid work for weeks this time.

Groaning, he gripped his unlit saber tightly and gave his foster father a pleading look. "I... wound up in the Nexus without meaning to. I'm sorry."

"You-" Carth's look went frmo shock to a mild anger. "How did you get the-"

"Frank!" Tiji laughed and hurried over, hugging him tightly. "Hey!"

"Frank?" He looked down at her with a confused frown, but then straightened to attention. "I'm really sorry... and I'm not making it up this time! I really can't remember how I got there!"

"Er... what?" Tiji sid, feeling his confusion. Carth also looked bewildered.

Fron looked back and forth between them, now feeling totally bewildered. "You didn't notice I was gone?"

"Why would we notice?" Tiji said, giving him a hug.

"How did you..." Carth stopped and shook his head, then had an idea. "While you're hear, mister, how about accompanying Tiji on her mission?"

"Yeah!" Tiji brightened.

"Wait... I was supposed to be gone...." He was looking back and forth between them again, his expression showing a desperate desire to try and figure this out. Then he straightened and brightened with relief. "Yes, sir! I'll watch her back."

"Oh trust me, it's going to be really, really lame," Tiji laughed.

"But it's important," Carth sighed. "Look, son, you take good care of my little girl, or we'll have words, you understand me?"

"Quit being melodramatic. Frank's awesome, nothing'll happen," she sighed.

"Yes, sir!" He snapped his head around as he thought he saw something, but then realized that it was just one of his Master's guards and relaxed. "Come on, Tiji."

Still grinning with relief, he led the way flawlessly to the shuttle bay.

Tiji blinked in surprise, then giggled softly. "I like your new clothes," she said. "You look just like a real Jedi."

He looked at her puzzledly as they stepped into the shuttle. "What do you mean? This is the same stuff I always wear. And I am a Jedi... at least as much as you are."

"Um... are you mental? You can't even use the Force," she laughed, plopping down into the pilot's seat. "I'm glad you're hear, though. This was going to be really boring alone."

He looked at her, wondering if he was trapped in some sort of induced hallucination in order to get information out of him. "Tiji... what's going on?"

"That's a good question," she said, sensing his thoughts and growing more serious as well. "You know... you're not- I mean, you seem a little confused. What's up, Frank?"

"My name's not Frank." His voice was low and suspicious as his mind closed with a nearly audible snap. "And I'd like to know what's going on myself."

He suddenly tensed herself.

"Yeah... you're... Frank," she said carefully, closing her own mind. "And I'm Tiji. Don't you remember? You've got a twin, Earnest, and... how did you know me again?" she said, turning towards him.

His face went more serious that she'd ever seen it, and that mysterious Glow that often cloaked her mother suddenly seemed to gather around him. "My name is Fron Kane. I'm Padawan to Alora Onasi."

It was one of the tricks that Alora had taught Tiji. Concentrate on your own identity so hard that no one can get past it into your mind.

"You're not mom's..." she stood quickly, then started as the autopilot took off and the shuttle launched from the ship. Taken off guard she hit the floor with a gasp.

He winced and stepped forward automatically to catch her, but then went to the pilot seat and quickly steered the shuttle back toward the Ebony Hawk.

He docked it perfectly.

"What the?" she looked up, and then blinked as her father called over the radio, asking urgently what was wrong. The Ebon Hawk's doors shut them in, and she stared. "How did you...."

"Something came up," said Fron tersely into the com. "I need to ask you a question."

Then he turned and knelt warily next to Tiji, his head cocked as he listened to what his Master was saying about her. "No bad bumps."

"Get away," she moved backward, then jumped up and into Carth's arms as he hurried into the shuttle. He started, and automatically drew his gun on the young man.

"What happened?" he barked.

"It's not Frank," Tiji said breathlessly. "He- he's crazy or something, and he's got mom's powers!"

Fron swallowed and paled, though not from fear of the blaster. "Sir, do you remember me?"

His voice threatened to crack, and his eyes were pleading.

"You're Frank, that boy who Tiji met in the cafe. You protected her," he said sternly, watching him. "Who do you think you are?" -Alora, love, I need you....-

He looked like he'd been slapped. "No. I'm Fron Kane, padawan to Alora Onasi."

Then he jumped as Carth's com. crackled.

"Carth, is something wrong?" came Alora's urgent voice.
