"Yes, sir," Tiji said, carefully hiding the yawn, and listening to the Republic Admiral's final orders, his smaller, blue and flickering face oblivious to her boredome as he finished outlining her mission.

The young Jedi nodded and saluted him, then breathed a sigh of relief as he finally finished and left.

"I'm impressed. You managed to look much more attentive this time," her father smiled, approaching. She smiled.

"Come on dad, it's just a message delivery," she rolled her eyes.

"I still wish you'd take somebody with you. Zaalbar or Mission or-"

"The only one who's free is Atton," she said sweetly. Atton, who was currently shuffly Pazaak cards, looked up helpfully.

"Well he'd be useless," Carth sighed. "Alright. you ready to go?"

"Yes, dad," she smiled.

Fron gasped as he realized that there were people in the room that he'd teleported to. Even worse, one of them was Carth! He was going to be doing droid work for weeks this time.

Groaning, he gripped his unlit saber tightly and gave his foster father a pleading look. "I... wound up in the Nexus without meaning to. I'm sorry."

"You-" Carth's look went frmo shock to a mild anger. "How did you get the-"

"Frank!" Tiji laughed and hurried over, hugging him tightly. "Hey!"

"My name's not Frank." His voice was low and suspicious as his mind closed with a nearly audible snap. "And I'd like to know what's going on myself."

He suddenly tensed herself.

"Yeah... you're... Frank," she said carefully, closing her own mind. "And I'm Tiji. Don't you remember? You've got a twin, Earnest, and... how did you know me again?" she said, turning towards him.

He pulled away, slightly mad green eyes shimmering as they looked down at her mistrustfully. Despite his shields a thought slipped out. -Where's my Tiji?-

She started, then backed away also, eyes watering.

-I'm right here. I haven't changed,- she sniffed, staring at him.

He was silent as he listened to her relate them to Alora, but nodded to her question, though his face was tight with strain.

Alora patted his arm gently, then walked over and herded Carth and Atton off the shuttle.

"Please... I'm sorry about what happened... just, don't cut yourself off from me," Tiji looked up at him, voice trembling as she touched his cheek. "We can handle this, easy, Fron, I promise. It'll just... take some getting used to."

-Don't they always?- He glanced at her from his mask of feigned innocence.

-Not always,- she laughed. -But they are this time. And this is the first time I'm doing it without mom. Can we try to take it serious... just long enough to land the shuttle and get the speeder going? Please?-

"Now you're talking!" His grin returned, along with a thrill of recognition and affection for the speeder. The crates where quickly loaded, and then he grabbed the passenger seat, even though he itched to drive.

She blinked, then smiled. "Actually, if you're here, you should probably drive. The best at what they do and such, I'll take lookout," she giggled.

"I can feel that." His voice and face were calm as he talked to his Master, that same sort of grin that she saw so often on her mother's face quirking the corner of his mouth.

She sighed and settled in.

"So you and mom have the non-Force feeling club going," she said. "And you're her Padawan?"

He quirked an eyebrow at her from behind the shields of light that he could sense all around them, then checked the arrow again as he remembered a little mishap that involved a very young Tiji streaking. It was something that in reality only Tiji had ever known about.

"No," she said, gasping and staring at him. "You couldn't have... oh no," she blushed madly.

"Well, no one argued when Alora came to claim you for her padawan. And I've heard stories... um. Well, in the memories." He sighed.

"What stories?" she asked curiously.

-Hey, it took them less than a week to say hello.- He grinned and turned the speeder, then zipped off down the way they'd come.

-Not much less,- she giggled.

"Okay." He took a deep breath, then frowned and wondered why it was getting harder to focus.

-Easy. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you," she said gently.

Back on the shuttle

Frank gently lay Tiji on his robe and put the cargo net over her, thinking peaceful go on sleeping thoughts, then sat down in the pilot's seat and let the Hawk know they were coming back.

"How did it go?" Carth asked. He'd been waiting anxiously by the communicator for hours.

He smirked, but then looked thoughtful. -Think it would work on a Twi'lek?-

-Don't,- she laughed. -Chi's ok.-

"Don't wanna bath!" protested Jud, his blue eyes wide as he checked over his shoulder and then turned to book it down the hall. "No!"

Frank snagged him, and then winced as the two and a half year old gave a yell of fright at being grabbed by a stranger.

"Easy, easy Jud, it's ok! Frank's a friend, he's your big brother now!" Tiji said, taking him instead. "Shh... it's ok."

He sighed and poked out his lower lip, but wriggled to be put down so that he could do as she said.

She put him down and followed him to the bedrooms, watching him carefully so he couldn't escape.

Frank sucked in his breath softly as Tob snorted at that and went into the fresher to see if Jud had drowned Atton.
