Goliath looked out over the large room, his eyes resting on the gathering of the Manhattan clans and their friends and kin. Everyone was there but for their alternate brethren and Lex and Emily. The latter two were watching the event via closed-circuit television from Lex's hospital room, and the former... well, he hoped they were going to be here soon.

Behind him Hudson muttered and grumbled nervously, and he glanced over his shoulder. "Peace, old friend. All will be well."

"Sez the bloke that just hit the wall agin this verra mornin'," returned Hudson with uncharacteristic heat, then sighed and turned away to pace.

Goliath closed the door to the groom's room and walked over to pour the old gargoyle a drink of the wine that David had brought in earlier.

That worthy individual was contemplating the window, his hands folded behind his back. "Claw's new wife is a lovely woman."

"Aye." Hudson knocked back his drink and slumped into a chair. "Part 'o me's wishin' Lucy 'n I had just done as they did."

"No you're not," said Goliath calmly. "You decided on this for Lucy."

"Aye." The old one sighed.

"Yeah." Maria sighed. "I probably would have kicked the poor guy. First impulse of any Brooklyn girl when she sees a flasher or a streaker."

Kat nodded. "It took a good deal of convincing for us to move our swords away from his neck and... other areas," she said.

"And eventually, the both of us fell in love with him, competing for his affections. But eventually..." She trailed off, no more needing to be said.

"Both of you?" Maria facepalmed. "He's already enough of a fathead."

"Forbidden fruit," Katana explained. "He was... very different from my rookery brothers and the other male members of the Clan."

"Ah... yeah." Maria blushed invisibly herself.

"And rather different from the human males you were used to, I am sure."

"Yeah. Most the guys in the families mine knows aren't half that buff." Her eyes twinkled teasingly as she looked at her fiancé. "Nah... there was just somethin' in his eyes."

"Probably tiny little pictures of him, if he was as full of himself as I was when I was that young," Brooklyn laughed.

"No," said Maria softly. "There was something beside that."

"Oh." Elisa looked up from the baby 'discussion' with a smile as the pastor came over. "Hi, Kendell."

Both of the older Gargoyles smiled.


Elisa looked up as well, at the slightly strange pastor. "Oh, hey, Padre."

"More like Madre, bub." She chuckled, her blue eyes dancing as she pulled out the spare chair and turned it backward before sitting. At this distance the feline pupils of those eyes were readily apparent. "'Cept Bengie 'n I ain't had any kids yet."

She offered a hand. "Kendell Logan-Grimm."

She chuckled as well, and took the hand to shake it. "Elisa. Just Elisa."

She jerked a head toward her counterpart and winked. "Kinda makes it easier to tell us apart."
