Rock-verse. Sam and Leeroy's place. Taking it easy.

Sam stretched and sat up from where she'd passed out on the couch, then looked around the pleasantly decorated and comfortably furnished mobile home with wonder. She and Leeroy had been living here for a few weeks now, and she still wasn't used to it, or to the peaceful lack of warning vibes from the surrounding countryside.

Groaning slightly, she peeled herself off the couch and wandered a little drunkenly over to the kitchen section of the big main room, feeling her head go weeee from how long she'd been laying flat. -'Roy? Where are you?-

Her mental prod woke him up from the bedroom, where he'd been snoring rather deeply on his back.

"I'm in our room... you woke me up," he complained.

-What're you doing in there?- She yawned till her jaw cracked, then had a drink of water and looked in the fridge. -Sandwich?-

She stole a kiss, then closed her eyes and hoped that ham breath wasn't going to ruin his sleep.

It didn't. He actually grinned to himself before snuggling in closer.

"You said it did when you made lunch last!"

"That was lunch. It's not lunch now."

"Oh hey, here's the camera...."

*SNAP*

Leeroy made an :O face.

"You're not getting away with that," he said, his voice deadly but his eyes still smiling.

"Yeah yeah, eat baloney." She didn't look up, still grinning broadly as the picture appeared on the laptop screen.

"Yeah, yeah, how about no." He grinned, then looked at the laptop screen and groaned. "Can you please store that somewhere where it'll never see the light of day?"

Sam chuckled and went out, petting the old cowdog who'd come with the place as he stood up to say hi and get out of her way. It was dark out. It felt a little odd to be standing there and not feeling anything of the sort that she was used to.

Leeroy followed, still in a bit of a daze now that the adrenaline from the chase had died down.

"Mmmph," he said.

Sam walked beside him across the parking lot and into the Wendy's, her eyes going to the menu. "Fries... yes!"

"You seem pretty excited about fries," Leeroy remarked, hiding his inner glee that this location sold Frosties.

He smiles over at her, but makes no sound apart from the sound of him devouring his food.

He's hungry.

For several moments that's the only sound that can be heard from their corner, but finally the food's gone and Sam's wondering if she wants more chili when a young family comes in- mother, father, and a dark-haired baby who's just old enough to hold up her head and look around.

Sam blinks and finds herself riveted by the child, unable to look away.

She hands him a handful of napkins as she gets to her own feet, her eyes straying toward the baby again.

Leeroy just stuffs them in his pocket and takes Sam's hand, kissing her fingers gently before leading her out of the fast food joint.

She pauses and looks around. "Um... is this a store or a freaking small country?"

Leeroy chuckles. "A little bit of both, I think."

It's the sort of mega-mart wherein you can purchase ride-on lawnmowers and insurance policies.

"Dude, are those fish tanks over there?"

Leeroy perked. "Might be. Should we get a dozen lobster?"

"Yeah. Me too." She's looking up again. "That way. Do we have everything from here?"

He looks in the cart.

"Think so..."

"Think that's enough?" She looks at it all, then blinks. "Do we want macaroni and cheese? Can you cook it?"

"I won't eat that crap," Leeroy says, making a disgusted face. "The damn stuff is probably toxic."

She gives him a peck, then pauses to study the canned chili. "Stagg? I think I've heard of this stuff."

"Don't ask me," he says with a shrug. "Sal an' Vic made almost everythin' from scratch back when I lived on the Rock."

And his and Sam's meals when they'd been working had been courtesy of 7-11 and/or greasy spoon diners.

"Other than wiping with it and using it for pitch torches? Everything. There's fifty different freaking kinds, and I don't know which ones are %#$#$@ and which aren't."

"I just want somethin' that wipes. 'S all I need."

"What are you talking about?"

"The book... it was..."

Leeroy narrows his eyes, wondering what, if anything, was causing the disturbance.

She frowns intensely for a moment. "Transformers. Like that yellow toy he hooks up to his laptop."

"Oh lord. The one that sings and dances?" Leeroy pinches the bridge of his nose. "Well, worse comes to worse we don't like it and shut it off."

"I guess." She gets out the door and looks up accusingly at the rainy sky, then shrugs and aims the cart toward the car.

"It ain't gonna rain yet," Leeroy says. "Soon, but not now."
