World Outside Time: Jubilee a few days later

Jubee sat on a balcony, her diary open on her lap as she smiled into the sunlight shone down on her.

She smiled into it, then looked down and started to write all about hunting with Sir Logan in the jungles. She was getting better at using the special boots that helped her move over the void. She'd even almost not gotten stuck a few times before she had to yell for Anmut's help, but with practise she'd learn to only need the winged woman's help a few times, like Sir James.

She continued to write for a while, smiling to herself. Her time here, in the World Outside Time, seemed like a beautiful, comfortable dream, and her life before... well... that seemed like somebody else's life, like a scarey, depressing book that she'd left on the shelf and almost forgotten.

This seemed a good enough place to stay, and live, and never think about problems again... this was so perfect.

She sighed and smiled, leaning back against the wall and closing her eyes, enjoying the sun.

Far below her in the void a girl suddenly was there, floating with her eyes closed as her entire body screamed with pain.

-Is this Heaven?- she thought, remembering what her mama had told her when she was small. -It smells good....-

She sighed and went limp, long black hair drifting around her in the scented breezes.

A small dragon appeared and sat on Jubee's knee, then snapped it's jaws to get her attention before it jerked it's head towards the girl far below, and looking Jubee froze, then bolted upright, staring in shock before she jumped up.

"Anmut!" she yelled, but there was nobody around, and scared this girl was dying she tossed down her diary and launched herself from the top of the castle, falling quickly with the gravity, but feeling at once when she was just going forward and no longer being pulled down.

She sucked in her breath, and then frantically activated her shoes, managing to stop herself just at the girl's side before she quickly checked for a pulse and breathing, pulling the girl to her and then looking up over to the castle, knowing she needed to get this girl inside, now.

Firecracker opened her eyes with a wince and a weak growl, then gasped as the scent hit her. "Mama?"

"I... don't think so," Jubee frowned, but she couldn't tell. This girl... looked like her.... But she shook her head and carefully, wobbly, started to go towards the castle, doing her best

"If I am I'm only a different version. now shh... I'm gonna get you inside and we'll patch you up, kay?"

"'Kay." Those bright blue eyes closed wearily. "Hurts...."

There was a soft waft of air as Anmut braked next to them and put out her arms. "Give her to me und get on my back, Leibling."

"Shh, you'll be ok," she assured the girl, then nodded and carefully gave her to Anmut.

"I was so scared you didn't hear," she gulped, moving around and climbing on, careful to not pull on her wings, even if she knew it wouldn't hurt her anyway.

"Arm around my neck," instructed her friend. Then those massive wings swept into motion, bringing them quickly to the castle. The girl moaned as they came into the gravity and Anmut murmured to her softly.

"Did I look like her when I got here?" Jubee asked softly, peeking over her friend's shoulder and staring at the girl sadly.

"Your hurts vere on the outside, Leibling." Anmut looked down at the young stranger's pale skin and the strange garment that she wore that was barely long enough to cover her butt. "I cannot see any vounds on her, but she is clearly hurt und sick." She put down her feet and folded her wings to give the girl a more comfortable travel bed, then walked toward the gate with Jubilee still hanging around her neck.

"Yeah. Still are," she slid down and frowned, righting herself before hurrying after her. "Can we help her? I mean, at the least, you can, right?"

"I am not skilled in helping the sick. It is Sir James who attended your hurts, though he tried to pretend you vere not here." Anmut turned away from the great entrance hall and moved swiftly through the halls as they seemed to shift and blur around them.

"Oh. Can he help her?" Jubee asked, moving closer to the woman and biting her lip, she still wasn't used to this.

"Ve vill see." Anmut paused in front of the door to one of the bedrooms and looked toward her intended as he strode up to them with a wooden box tucked under one arm.

"Not a mark on 'er," rumbled Sir James, frowning as his eyes scanned the girl, frowning as he realized that the too-small lab coat was all she was wearing. "Best get 'er to bed, love."

"Can I help? Please? She said an alternate me was her mom," Jubee bounced slightly.

"Aye, lass, this one's yers alright." He frowned slightly as Anmut lay the girl on the huge canopy bed. "Smells lab born."

"If I stay with her maybe I can help?" she said hopefully.

"Mayhap," he said absently, his hands searching for hurts even as he analyzed the girl's scent. "How's 'er heart, Nebelmädchen?"

"Strong, but too fast." Anmut's ears went back.

He nodded and sat back, eyes still dark in concern. "I'm thinkin' the lass just needs rest. Her healin's takin' care 'o whatever hurt she took."

"I'll stay with her," Jubee said. "It'll be better if she wakes up to somehting familiar, right?"

"Aye." He stood and put a hand behind her head to pull her close for a kiss on the forehead. "I'll be about if ye need me, pet."

She grinned and gave him a hug, and then went over and sat by her new ward, smoothing her hair and smiling at Anmut.

"You sticking around?"

"Ja." The winged woman twitched her ears as she came back from the wardrobe with a soft silken nightgown. "We must make her more comfortable." She watched Sir James go, then turned back to Jubilee.

"Ok, I'm happy to help," she grinned.

Anmut twitched her ears and went to get a basin of water from the bathroom.

Jubee sat on the bed, next to thte new girl, looking at her closely for any sign of an amount of recovery.

She sighed to herself, then opened her diary and wrote about the girl, finishing the page with a small sketch of the girl.

"Hmm," she muttered to herself, looking at her art. "Well, you're not the next DiVinci... but not bad."

There was a soft breath beside her, then a faint growl as Firecracker stirred and opened her eyes to stare puzzledly at the globes floating under the canopy.
