World Outside Time: Jubilee a few days later

Jubee sat on a balcony, her diary open on her lap as she smiled into the sunlight shone down on her.

She smiled into it, then looked down and started to write all about hunting with Sir Logan in the jungles. She was getting better at using the special boots that helped her move over the void. She'd even almost not gotten stuck a few times before she had to yell for Anmut's help, but with practise she'd learn to only need the winged woman's help a few times, like Sir James.

She continued to write for a while, smiling to herself. Her time here, in the World Outside Time, seemed like a beautiful, comfortable dream, and her life before... well... that seemed like somebody else's life, like a scarey, depressing book that she'd left on the shelf and almost forgotten.

This seemed a good enough place to stay, and live, and never think about problems again... this was so perfect.

She sighed and smiled, leaning back against the wall and closing her eyes, enjoying the sun.

Far below her in the void a girl suddenly was there, floating with her eyes closed as her entire body screamed with pain.

-Is this Heaven?- she thought, remembering what her mama had told her when she was small. -It smells good....-

She sighed and went limp, long black hair drifting around her in the scented breezes.

A small dragon appeared and sat on Jubee's knee, then snapped it's jaws to get her attention before it jerked it's head towards the girl far below, and looking Jubee froze, then bolted upright, staring in shock before she jumped up.

"Anmut!" she yelled, but there was nobody around, and scared this girl was dying she tossed down her diary and launched herself from the top of the castle, falling quickly with the gravity, but feeling at once when she was just going forward and no longer being pulled down.

She sucked in her breath, and then frantically activated her shoes, managing to stop herself just at the girl's side before she quickly checked for a pulse and breathing, pulling the girl to her and then looking up over to the castle, knowing she needed to get this girl inside, now.

Firecracker opened her eyes with a wince and a weak growl, then gasped as the scent hit her. "Mama?"

"I am not skilled in helping the sick. It is Sir James who attended your hurts, though he tried to pretend you vere not here." Anmut turned away from the great entrance hall and moved swiftly through the halls as they seemed to shift and blur around them.

"Oh. Can he help her?" Jubee asked, moving closer to the woman and biting her lip, she still wasn't used to this.

"Ja." The winged woman twitched her ears as she came back from the wardrobe with a soft silken nightgown. "We must make her more comfortable." She watched Sir James go, then turned back to Jubilee.

"Ok, I'm happy to help," she grinned.

"You're my mama," repeated Firecracker, sitting up and then becoming distracted by the blankets and the gown she wore. "Wow... clothes on."

"Ok," Jubilee sighed, then nodded and smiled. "Clothes are good. And we can get you more of them, too. You don't have to just wear this."

Firecracker looked at her, wondering if she should try to understand again, but then became distracted by the moving of the curtains. She watched them for a moment, not sensing any wind to move them, then scrambled off the bed, got tangled in her new clothes-on, and wound up face first on the floor.

"Oh! Careful!" Jubee jumped off the bed, worried as she helped her back up. "Are you ok, Firecracker?"

Firecracker tried to help with getting the clothes-on on... getting the clothes on? She found that it was a lot easier than she remembered. As a matter of fact she could even do it herself. This made her grin broadly, showing off her teeth.

"All I can eat? What does that mean?" She looked up, still grinning.

"It means you get all the food you want until your tummy," she patted the girl's, grinning. "Is full and you don't want any more."

"Ye are in everything but memory," he rumbled softly, his dark eyes going to the girl as he sniffed. "Where'd the blood come from?"

"She fell on her face. I tried to clean it all up," Jubee winced. "But she heals fast, like you."

"And what were ye lookin' at in the mirror?" He cocked an eye at her, then turned back to the glass as it went clear.

She giggled and blushed, then shrugged. "I so didn't plan it, Wolvie, really. The furniture told me to look and I watched your dinner... but only the first part."

"Good Creeds?" Sir James actually stopped to look at her. "Yer serious?"

"Well, yeah. At the Cafe there's one called Dog who never became a Creed at all. He's really nice. And Fluffy was a Creed, but then he got a daughter and then he went feral and got stuck that way, so he's like a big, cuddly kitten-man. I really really like him."

"I never fought with my first Joy," he said softly. "She died before she could truely speak though, so that may have put a bit of a halter on it."

"How young was she?" Jubee's eyes were big as she looked up at him, laying her head against his shoulder.

He chuckled again. "We're goin' with a simplified church weddin'. Had ben wonderin' 'bout a second witness, but it looks like we just got one."

"Yeah," Jubee grinned. "Sounds good. But... um... who's gonna do it?"

"I'll not outshine my lady." He turns sideways to bear Firecracker through the door to her room and smiles at the lady in question as she looks around from her perch in the window.

"Then let me help her with her dress, too! You can both be shiny!" Jubee pleaded, looking desperate to get them both looking nice.
