Remieverse - Sweet Child

Remie lay in her bed, holding her tiny son close as he fed, staring at him in amazement.

"Ma petit..." she said softly, gazing at the babe. An almost overwhelming feeling of relief and joy swept over her, and she sank back into the pillows. "Ah... amour... he so tiny...."

She nodded and gently lifted him, patting his back lightly till he burped. Then she held him close, staring at him.

"What d'ya wanna name him?" she asked softly.

"I don't know. I don't know him yet." He smoothed the baby's soft backmane, still marveling.

"Alright. We wait," she smiled, then turned her head to kiss his lips gently. "'Gradulations, papa."

His ears twitched, and he nuzzled her cheek gently. "Und to you, Moeder."

"Moeder..." she repeated. "Huh. I like it," she grinned and snuggled against him, holding the babe up and turning on her side so she could put the child between them, resting on Schalk's chest.

He looked to make sure that the nurses were finished, then lifted her gently and moved so that he was laying beside her with the baby resting against him and marveled again at the deep auburn of his son's skin.

Then he winced and covered both Remie and baby with a wing as the little one shivered and fussed softly.

"Oh, shh," Remie cooed softly, stroking his hair. "It's alright. Yoh papa got you looked after."

Schalk chuckled as the baby made little newborn squeaks as though in reply, then kissed Remie and nuzzled her cheek again. "Und you're avake.... That still surprises me, mein Liebe."

"I wouldn't miss dis for de world," she said softly, staring at the child before looking up at him. Sleep was present, but moreso was the elation and pure happiness. "De babe's first sleep.... I dreamed o' dis day since I was young...."
