Futureknight universe: Harley returns

Harley had been strolling along the beach, a couple of days after she had been proposed to by Jack Sparrow. Lost in her own thoughts, she had been wondering if Dick would of approved of the new man in her life. She had also been thinking of the wedding gift she had left for her future husband in a safe deposit account at Gotham Bank. A part of her wished so hard that she could get that gift to give to Jack Sparrow, that same part of her had also wished she could talk to Dick about the new development.

Suddenly she noticed a chill in the air, and looking around she realized she was no longer at the Boardwalk. Harley recognized where she was standing, she had been here before with Deona and Kurt, it was the future reality of Gotham City. She was not quite sure how she ended up here, but she knew that she should take advantage of the situation given to her.

Unfortunately she was quite lost. Last time she had been at the graveyard, and now she was somewhere in the city. The city had grown over the years, and she was not sure how to get to Gotham Bank, or to the Graveyard. Harley sighed to herself, and looked around hoping to catch a glimpse of a familiar landmark.

Clark got to his feet and walked over lightly, leaving no prints on the carpet. He put a hand to the back of Harley's head and kissed her gently on the forehead, as though in blessing. "Namarri," he said softly. "May Eru's Light shine always on your paths."

Harley smiled, "Thanks Clark, you have helped me a great deal."

He smiled in return, then turned and went back to the couch and Brenda.

Harley smiled, and then nodded to Prudence, "I am ready."

The butler nodded and led the way down to the parkade. The elevator ride and the car trip were done in silence till they stopped in front of the cemetary, which was now surrounded by tall buildings.

"I shall wait for you here, Miss Harley."

"Thank you," Harley steppe dout of the car. She walked into the graveyard, towards the Grayson plot, looking for Dick's stone.

It wasn't too hard to find, though it was now surrounded by generations of descendants and relations. She noticed now the smaller, lamb-topped stone next to it which read, 'Mary Grayson, loved daughter and sister' and chronicled a life that had only lasted fifteen years. Dick's stone looked as though it were protecting the little one.

"Still protecting others, huh Dick?" Harley smiled. She took a moment to ensure the graves were well kept, then knelt to Dick's. "So... I wanted to let you know that I have found another love. His name is Jack Sparrow, and he is a pirate." She smiles, "He makes me laugh, and I have not felt this way since you. We are to be married, and I... just wanted your approval. I wish you could give me a sign that everything will be okay."

"You speak to the dead?" asked a soft, dry voice from somewhere behind the tombstones.

Harley jumped, and stood to see who was speaking to her, "Anyone can speak to the dead, it takes a gifted person for them to speak back."
