Sam's Earth: Detroit

Leeroy had learned his lesson.

Never, ever swap the memory cards on Jeimu's PlayStation 2. And don't hide the one that had all her DDR save games on it.

She'd sworn up a storm and then opened up a portal in the living room and kicked him through it. Now he was here, in a strange bar in a strange city. He didn't feel too concerned, Mu would bring him back when she decided he deserved to set foot on Newfoundland again.

But while he was here there was only one thing to do.

"What d'ye got fer beers, b'y?" he asked the bartender.

She didn't reply as she pulled into the lot, only glancing at him before exiting the car and going into the motel office. The bored kid behind the counter didn't even look up as she handed over the money and took the key.

Sam mentally shook her head at such lack of alertness, then frowned as the entire world suddenly seemed to be pressing on her shoulders. She managed to leave the office and got two steps toward the Impala as a dull buzz filled her ears.

Then her knees gave way and she toppled to the ashphalt, out cold before she hit.

Paper blew across the abandoned parking lot and thunder rumbled in the distance as the wind ruffled Sam's short dark hair and brought the smell of rain. The sign flickered and died for a moment, then came back on, glinting on something laying next to the unconcious girl.
