Nexus. Blackout's kingdom. Pinked.
Blackout leaned back on the ledge that shaded her front door, enjoying the feel of the sun on her armor and frowning absently at the two tiny mechs who stood in front of her, one watching everything around them and the other talking to her earnestly.
"I was hot, so I decided to have a bath in that new fountain by the sign. And then she just appeared and now she won't stop following me around and calling me 'Daddy'!" Beamrider flailed slightly, then turned his grey optics toward the little pink and grey femme, who looked back at him with bright blue optics full of a newspark's wonder.
Blackout just looked at them for a moment, noting the similarities between their construction and markings, then shook her head. "You just randomly jumped in water that just randomly appeared out of nowhere less than a week ago and about which you knew nothing."
Beamrider froze and looked up at her with sudden fearfulness that made her growl. "Yes, sir."
"Are you slagging stupid?"
"I saw you wash your head in it when we were having the firebomb drill, and so I thought it was safe!" he protested, flailing again. "I guess you got off lucky."
Blackout froze, her thoughts going to the strange feeling in her spark. Slagging pit.... No... it can't be anything to do with that.
Her optics went to the little femme as the latter dove over the side of the ledge and flew down to investigate Hormah's sand trap down on the canyon floor, noting with approval that the rookie was cautious as she scanned the seeming innocuous space, and then giving a short snort of laughter as she jumped into it with both feet and a gleeful beep. Hormah erupted from the sand with a triumphant deedle of her own, then paused to look at her catch and ask her who she was and where she'd come from.
"What's her name?" the black femme asked Beamrider.
He blinked and turned to look down at his creation. "Uh... I don't know, sir. She didn't tell me."
"Well find out or make something up."
"Yes, sir." He walked over to the edge of the ledge and beeped at the youngster.
"...In Cybertronian or English."
"...Pink?? That's not a name!" He shifted languages in mid-shout.
"Is too!" she called back in a pert voice.
"You can't be named for your colour!"
She hopped down from Hormah's hand and walked over to a cactus. Popping a blade from the back of her hand she chopped the plant into small bits, then looked up at her creator triumphantly.
"That's not pinking!" Beamrider sounded long-suffering.
She razzed him.
"Pink, hmmm." Blackout cut off the argument before it could give her sparkburn, then reached into a storage compartment. "Here."
Beamrider stared at the credit chip she'd handed him, then read the denomination and startled. "Sir?"
"Your reward for bringing another useful member to the team." She leaned back again. "Go spend it and leave me alone."
He looked up at her with astonishment, unable to believe that he didn't just get flicked off the ledge, then snapped a quick salute and headed for the mall and that set of Multiversal Cybertronian history books that he'd seen there earlier.
Blackout watched him go, then listened to Hormah and the new little femme chattering at each other in rapid-fire Minicon as she ran another diagnostic on her spark before just opening her chest and looking at it.
"Slagging pit." She stared, then closed everything up again with a shudder and rested her forehead on her hand for a moment. What now, Primus? I just got rid of one weak and useless mech. Are you having me create another?
"He sez not t' worry, Boss!" Hormah called up absently, lost in the fun of feeding Pink all the programming that Iceberg had given to her.
Blackout growled at her minion and her boss, then jumped off the ledge and transformed before flying to go and destroy a few things to make herself feel better. //Scorponok, meet me at the buildings that build themselves. We're going to tear them down.//
Her symbiont dropped whatever he was doing and sent enthusiastic acknowledgment, and she felt her mood brightening at his cheer. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. And if worse came to worse she could just dump this newspark on Prime and Elita too.
