Nexus. Blue's Bar. A Meeting of Opposites

It was another late night for Random, another recharge-less night. It was on these nights that he got off his berth and walked down to the Engineering Labs to work on some unfinished project leftover from the day--or at least that's what he told whichever mech found him recharging in the lab one of those times when he was unable to make it back to his quarters.

As usual he had managed to pass through the quiet halls without being approached by the nightshift. If Red Alert heard that, he'd freak. However, when he opened the door to the lab and walked in, he found himself in a place that he didn't recognize as either Wheeljack's lab or the Ark.

At first he wondered if he'd missed a memo, like one saying "Wheeljack's working on something in his lab, ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK," and searched over his memory banks to find such of a memo as he glanced around the bar to prevent extra thinking. When he doesn't immediately find a memo, his 'oh great, just what I needed' attitude began to fade to outright panic. Before it spread too far, however, something in his mind made a connection between "bar"--which this place obviously was--and "Nexus."

Hmm. Maybe . . . ? He began to take his processors off of finding the memo and to set them to the task of thoroughly searching the bar for anyone he's seen before in the Nexus . . .

There's a sound from the door, which has opened up into one of those infrequent Nexus portals. He might recognize what's on the other side of it.

He's so focused on his Sunrise that at first he doesn't notice it, but then when he starts to eat its husk, he startles, looks up towards the door, and double-takes.

He soon stares blankly at it, not out of wonder, but contemplation, absently eating the rest of his Sunrise. The most probable thing he could be thinking is if the portal's going to stay long enough for him to go through it. A more considerate thing he could be thinking is if he feels accomplished enough positive things here to leave.

Without even really noticing, he takes a datapad out of his subspace, turns it on, and then gazes down at it. After a moment, he shuts it off and replaces it in his subspace, getting out of the booth and starting to hesitantly make his way towards the portal, not really knowing if it's gonna stay there.

"Wait," says Keg tersely from the bottom of the stairs.

He flinches, grabbing a hold of one of the booths to keep from falling, and turns around, waiting for Keg to speak.

"Just let me make sure it's safe." The young bouncer walks warily toward the anomaly, all his sensors on high alert as he communicates with his creator over his personal communicator. Once he reaches it, he looks through with guarded curiosity and scans everything thoroughly.

"I doubt Wheeljack's lab has ever been 100% safe but go ahead." The lighting in the room seen in the portal is dim. Only the emergency lights are on for security reasons. The lab has the general look of a mad scientist's laboratory, . . . only with mechanical devices not chemicals. The oddly placed shadows on the walls, tables, and floor are actually scorch marks, remnants of explosions of yore. The worktables themselves are covered with half-finished projects, blue prints, various doodads or tools varying in size and shape. Otherwise there are no immediate signs of life in the lab.

Keg scans the portal completely, nodding to show that he's heard what Random said. Finally satisfied that there seems to be no threat, he disables the security over the door, and then waves his hand through the portal to check for security on the other side of it.

Well, his hand doesn't zapped and no alarms sound if that's what he's wondering though if there's a camera and anyone's awake in security they might see quite a weird sight!.
