TFA 'verse. Autobot base in Detroit. Bittersweet.
"Boss-bot, you awake?"
Optimus unshuttered his optics and frowned groggily at the ceiling, feeling Blackarachnia stir where she sat next to him on the berth with her head on his chest. "I am now.... What is it, Bulkhead?"
The big green mech entered the room cautiously, still not able to believe that his CO was really back despite Optimus having been so for a little over a week. "Well, you remember those alarms a couple days ago? When something landed in the lake? Bandit 'n me found out what it was. Who it was."
"Who it was?" Optimus turned his head sharply, frowning with alarm.
"I come in peace?" offered a mild feminine voice as Bulkhead stepped aside to show the slender white femme who stood quietly with Bandit's hand on her head. "My name is Bittersweet, and I'm an acolyte of Primus."
Optimus' frown deepened as he pushed himself slowly to a sitting position, aware of Blackarachnia vanishing to return to her life-support pod as he did so. "I wasn't aware that such beings existed."
"We do." Her serious blue optics regarded him with compassion and concern from under the symbol on her forehead.
He studied that symbol, noting that it was an unfamiliar glyph resting on a stylized representation of Cybertron, then flicked his optics to her shoulder, where a small Autobadge outline rested as though in afterthought. "This is an out of the way place."
"I go where Primus guides me."
Optimus studied her face, noting the delicate indigo scroll-work that accented her parchment white base coat around her wrists and face, and her alarming lack of armor. This was no combat model. She reminded him of the white femme who had helped him in the Nexus, and he absently wondered if she were an alternate. That could explain the feeling of nagging familiarity that he was getting as he looked at her.
But despite that feeling he found himself trusting her, and even feeling concerned at the thought of such a tiny -she looked to be about a foot shorter than Bumblebee- being in Detroit. "So you're saying that you came here deliberately, despite the Elite Guard's laws concerning organic planets?"
"I'm not afraid of organic beings." Her optics met his frankly. "As a matter of fact, if you'll let me stay, I'd like to return to Dinobot Island."
His browplates lifted. "You're aware that Dinobot Island has Dinobots?"
She chuckled. "Yes. Swish brought me across the lake so that I could report to you. I like them. They're eager learners, and that warms any storyteller's spark."
"...Eager learners?" Optimus blinked, wondering if something had happened to the primitive bots while he was busy making like a ghost.
"Mmm hmm." Bittersweet nodded.
He frowned, but then nodded reluctantly. "We'll have to make sure you have fuel."
"Actually, I've got an upgrade that lets me convert organic material to energy." The white femme looked a little embarrassed as she admitted it, but Optimus could see that the embarrassment was an act. She had no apologies about how she was built.
She was also looking at Blackarachnia as the disembodied femme reappeared in the room to scowl at her suspiciously. Right at her.
Optimus frowned and wondered at that, but there was only gentle curiosity and some concern in Bittersweet's posture and expression.
Then his optics widened slightly as he saw her face in profile and was reminded strongly of Elita as she once had been. Subtle curves in the white femme's shell also called to mind the similarity.
Was this...? It couldn't be. There was no way she could be functioning at this level already. Besides, he'd asked Auspex and her students to keep her away from this reality. This had to be just a case of design similarity.
"Sir?" She was frowning at him uncertainly, wondering at his intent stare.
"Sorry." He blinked and rubbed his optics. "Alright. You can stay. Just... please be careful."
"Thank you!" She bounced a little, then looked up at Bandit with a smile as the bigger femme let go of her.
Bulkhead herded them out of the room, then paused to give Optimus a worried look. "Get some rest, boss-bot. You want me to call the doc-bot?"
"No...." Optimus settled back on the berth. "I'm alright. Thanks, Bulkhead."
"No problem." The big green mech turned and tiptoed out of the room.
