Stephverse - Vacation

Steph looked around, still not believing she was looking at the Pacific Ocean and not only glimpsing it while running after some estranged mutant, terrorist, or sentinal. Nope, not this time, and the thought brought a grin to her face as she leaned against the railing of the beautiful luxury sweet her husband had brought her to blindfolded.

"Hawaii," she grinned, staring out at the beautiful beaches and hundreds of fellow vacationers already out in the sun and water. She sighed, fingers closing around her pocketed phone, wondering if Hank would fulfill his promise and throw it away in two pieces if she insisted on calling back home constantly. She'd already made her arrived safely call, but she could help missing her family, and wondered when her husband would finish trimming his whiskers and distract her from the urges to call back.

Strong arms suddenly seized her from behind, and she was born over the railing in a mighty leap that ended in a soft landing.

"And the valient knight bears off his lady fair and his three youngest children- who are kicking him in the stomach most disrespectfully- toward the enticements of sweet nature."

"Hey!" she squeaked, laughing and squirming, pressing into the hologram-hidden fur. "And you grabbing a girl and jumping off the porch with her off to who knows where is just dripping with the grace, huh?"

He laughed aloud, then paused and sniffed the air. "Dost smell that my fair one? That savory aroma of roasting pork? Shall we go hither and investigate?"

"First an appatizer," she said, turning and kissing him very deeply before she giggled. "Ok. Pork time!"

"T'was their cavileer treatment of you that I scolded them for, fair warrior." He lifted one brow mildly, then offered her his arm. "Shall we?"

"Yeah. But they have my smart mouth and kicked me for it," she said, giggling and took his arm, wrapping it around her before leaning against him. "I think we shall."

He nuzzled her hair, then led her past the trees and over to the newly opened roasting pit and the whole pig that was being lifted from it.

"Oh man," she grinned, grabbing his hand and pulling him forward, quickly getting to the front of the line and afterwards pulling them both away with heaping plates of rich, delicious food.

She frowned, however, looking at Hank.

"I'm sorry I wipped the Twinkie gloss off," she said, leaning against him. "I promise I'll put more on. Don't be mad? Or dissappointed or whatever?"

"You wound me," he said with mock offended dignity, turning to his meal and concentrating his attention on eating.

"You know better than that," she made a face and snuggled against him as she also ate. "Who's more responsible, the World Class doctor or the wife who continueally overdoses on sugar and runs into walls?"

"Methinks we're two of a kind, my sweetling," he said gravely, slipping an icecube down the back of her tank top.

"Ai!" She squealed quite loudly, then beat on his chest. "You absolute monster of a man! That is soo mean!"

"More...?" His eyes went round behind his glasses. "My stars and garters, Sweet Stephanie...."

"Hold you horses, I'm not saying that I definetly want more kids, but you know, just in case Someone decides for us, unless you're saying you want you want to start sleeping in twin beds like those old black and white movies, there's a possibility," she said, looking at him. "And you're the one who always warns everyone to be prepared for unexpected twists. Look at my stomach right now, we didn't plan this."

"True," he rumbled softly, rubbing the friendly little elbow that poked out at his hand. "But I fear me even if we were to get separate beds that you would spend more time in mine than in your own."

"Are you joking? No husband of mine's gonna be sleeping alone unless I have work to do," she said, sticking her tongue out at him before she sighed, closing her eyes and soaking in a few moments of silence before she opened her eyes.

"So... after these three, you don't want any more kids?" she asked, looking up at him and blinking.

His mouth curved upward into his gentle, benign beam, but his only other reply was to offer a bit of pork with his fingers.

She smiled as well, snatching the food with her mouth and chewing it thoughtfully before she rubbed her stomach, smiling at the one corner that was always snuggling.

Hank's soft eyes gazed into hers through his glasses. "You are most fair, my dove. I am captive to the gaze of thine eyes."

"They were gaining as per expectations," he rumbled gently, still offering the tidbit. "You weren't."

"Is that bad?" she asked, suddenly slightly worried. "Are you sure they weren't just taking in everything? I haven't been starving myself or anything."

"If you had ever fallen into the danger zone I would have told you. As I said, the difference was slight."

He took his hand from her belly to stroke her hair. "I know, Sweet Stephanie."

"Let's let Jean deliver them," she said, looking up at him, eyes twinkling. "I was a little scared you were going to fall over when you caught Sam... and this will be three times the stress."

"Remember, it may not be possible to birth them by natural means," he reminded.
