Porthos sighed, testing the feel of one of the spare swords he'd been provided to test with. He was, as always, good at picking up the feel of new weapons, but it didn't seem right withought his old sword by his side. He knew every nick and nooks of it, it was as as good as an extension of his own hand.

He sighed, then went back through his drills, striving to improve the new forms Brenda had taught him, and perfect his better moves with a new blade and new trousers, which felt as ridiculous as they looked.

"He doesn't show who he really is to very many." She put a foot back and leaned against the wall. "I think he's afraid of being hurt when they die."

"He's outlived that many?" he frowned, pausing and looking up at her, suddenly worried about how many loved ones she'd seen leave.

"He's over a hundred years old." She lifted one brow slightly.

"Oh," his eyebrows went up. "Well... bloke ages well, doesn't he?"

"He doesn't age at all. He's immortal." She examined a spot of something on the other sword.

"Woah," Porthos wasn't sure what he was supposed to react to that.

"He's half Eldari," said Brenda quietly. "And a quarter Kryptonian. You never had to be jealous of him; he told me he wasn't interested when we first met."

"Me? Jealous? Of that face?" he scoffed impulsively, though his ears reddened slightly.
