Kurt sighed as he gazed out the window. New home, new view. It wasn't that he disliked the castle, but a part of him missed his home world, even if the X Men and mutant haters were there all along.

But he wouldn't give this place up for anything, it meant so much to his Joy, and it was safe for her. All he wanted was a good home for her. His Joy.... He loved her so much when he saw her he could barely speak, but still, because his courage had failed him completely and the heartbreaks of Ororo and Mara had only just started to pass, he was afraid to do anything but take her on picnics, and sometimes made her a fancy dinner, if he could pursuade the kitchen staff to let him help.

He hated his gutlessness, but he didn't want to rush her, or himself. He wanted things with her to work out right.

Kurt stared in near shock for a while, then suddenly realized what she was to him.

He blinked, then kissed her gently.

"Fraulin..." he whispered softly, wrapping his arms around her. "I love you."

"I ken." She lay her head against his chest with a sigh. "Ye've told me. Und I love ye too. More'n anythin'."

"Marry me?" Kurt asked softly, stroking her hair. Then he slowly pulled away and went to one knee, looking up at her. "I can't loose you, and I can't stand anuzzer moment vithout you by my side. Please, fraulin, marry me? Or consider it?"

"Ja. Ja!" She was laughing and crying, so full of feelings that she couldn't say anything else.

He stared for a moment in shock then let out a cry of joy and stood up, grabbing her waist and picking her up, swinging her around before he let her down and kissed her, tears running down his own cheeks.

She drew back just a little, still not comfortable with kissing before they'd said their vows. But then she buried her face in the crook of his neck and tried her best not to cry on him and scald him with her own tears as she said 'I love you' in her mother's language over and over.

He imediatly stopped when she drew back, cursing himself softly before apologizing and whispering one "I love you" before he became too choked up to say anything, laying his cheek against her hair and just holding her.

Once more she wrapped him in her wings with her hands against his chest.

"Never let me go," she whispered. "Vhen you hold me I'm home."

"I von't," he choked. "I von't. Mien liebe... ach...."

She nestled close, hands still on his chest and her forehead resting against his cheek, content to just be there and do nothing else.

"Mein Liebe, I love you," he said softly. "I love you."

"Mmmm." She closed her eyes, wings tightening slightly to hold him closer.

"So it's true. You're back," said a deep baritone from the newly opened doorway.
