World Outside Time: Jubilee two days later

Jubee sighed, shivering slightly and pulling the blankets around her and Anmut tighter, attempting to battle the reverse fever that had Anmut cold, clammy, and sick. Nevertheless Jubee wouldn't have left her side for anything, wanting to try to warm her with her own heat, even though she felt like complete and utter crap as well.

In his chair Sir James stirred a bit, growling to himself and watching over them tirelessly, even though the chair he'd picked had to be awfully uncomfortable.

Jubee sighed, then sneezed, an action that made her grunt with pain before she let herself snuggle against Anmut. No matter how cold or clammy she got, she was still all Jubee had in reach that she trusted and loved.

"Wolvie?" she finally murmured, wondering if the man had fallen asleep on her yet.

"No. But it's possible. Probable. And likely, now. And you need her."

"I've less than two hundred years left," he said quietly, still listening to Anmut's breathless patter. "And I'm far too old ta be goin' about the foolishness 'o love."

"At the rate I'm going the only guy who'll I've ever loved will be the guy who made me a homewrecker," Jubee laughed hoarsely. "But I'll take it. Why not, at least I got to feel something. Don't talk to me about two hundred years, I've probably got five, tops. And love isn't foolish. It never has been and it never will be."

"Five?" He frowned at her in concern, suddenly totally focused on her as a chill went down his back.

Jubes shrugged. "Give or take. One way or another, somebody's gonna do me in by then, and if not somebody else I will have. But that ain't the point. You still have just this side of two hundred years here, and you can't just be miserable the whole time, it's going to do you in before your time."
