World Outside Time: Jubilee two days later

Jubee sighed, shivering slightly and pulling the blankets around her and Anmut tighter, attempting to battle the reverse fever that had Anmut cold, clammy, and sick. Nevertheless Jubee wouldn't have left her side for anything, wanting to try to warm her with her own heat, even though she felt like complete and utter crap as well.

In his chair Sir James stirred a bit, growling to himself and watching over them tirelessly, even though the chair he'd picked had to be awfully uncomfortable.

Jubee sighed, then sneezed, an action that made her grunt with pain before she let herself snuggle against Anmut. No matter how cold or clammy she got, she was still all Jubee had in reach that she trusted and loved.

"Wolvie?" she finally murmured, wondering if the man had fallen asleep on her yet.

"That's different. The only one who'd give a crap about me if I died would be Logan or Jean, if she was alavie and he wasn't feral or in Japan. Anmut needs you, and you need her. You have a time to die, you have to live until that time."

He took a deep breath. "My Joy died before her time. T'would do me good t'know another lived 'er full span."

"I've never heard of me living that long.... or hapily. There's one who gave up everything to marry a man from another world... but I don't even know if that worked out. Everyone else was too messed up to love, or just couldn't."

"Did Anmut tell ye 'o the one that was here before ye?"

"No. It made her sad. I didn't ask."

"She wasn' different like you 'n I, but she was a Joy all the same. She 'n her husband have four children, 'n she was glad t' be goin' home when I finally saw 'er."

"I'll never have that," she looked down, completely certain of the statement.

He growled at her, causing Anmut to start and mutter. "I'll care when ye do, lass."

She looked up at him as she held Anmut closer.

"The only guy who ever looked at me won't even tell me who's the mother of his child, and he made me into a homewrecker. That's not exactly the hsppily-ever-after most would want."
