There's a newcomer to the Nexus today -- a woman in her very early thirties, with bright red hair and a forest-green sweater, sitting on one of the provided couches and looking at travel brochures. She wandered in earlier, and after the obligatory "?!?/can I get back" moment, has decided that she might as well do as the sign asks and ask a question. She spreads out her brochures on a table in front of her and looks up.

"So, random strangers! I'm a wanderer, and I've wandered almost all of the United States. So I think it's time I broke into international travel. Since it's my first time in this regard, I figured I'd at least start out by going to one of the more well-known cities, and see where adventure leads me from there."

She holds up three brochures.

"The question of the day is, then: London, Paris, or Rome?"

Lucy's struck silent for a moment, but only a moment. Okay. Telepathic. Perhaps she should have expected that. "I -- don't think it goes well with the gravy stuff," she says, deciding the best thing is just to go along with it. "I can't imagine it on cheese either."

"I thought I heard it with my ears." Silver is all quietly apologetic little girl dignity as she absently hugs the now understanding and relaxed Love's hand. "Sometimes when people think loud I can't tell unless I'm looking at them."

Maybe a bit much explaining for someone who seems to have accepted it. But Silver has met a lot of epic fits about 'get out of my head!' in her life.

Lucy's a little more chill about it -- again, she's thinking she should have expected it. After all, the previous Fae/Changeling she met could make food appear out of thin air. "It's okay," sh assures her. "You didn't freak me out much. Not something you can really control yet?"

"It's our natural way of talking." Silver fidgets and glances toward the purring and beeping. "I've seen grownup halfbreeds and Changelings do it too."

"Oh, I see," Lucy says. "Er -- sorry for thinking so loud, then," she adds, trying jokes to put the girl a little more at ease. She too glances toward the noises. Hmmmm. . .

Silver peeks at her with a little grin, but Lucy may or may not notice that seeing as there's a FULL GROWN DISPLACER BEAST laying over there a few feet away from where two little ducklings are industriously grooming something invisible.

Yes, the very large cat with six legs and two huge tentacles is rather distracting. Lucy's just going to stand and gape for a while. The ducklings and their invisible grooming station barely even attract her notice. "Is -- is that yours?" she finally gets out.

Silver's little invisible brows shoot up as she feels and sees Lucy's reaction, then she looks toward the displacer beast, looking at the ducklings and not at where the cat seems to be. "Kitty is Mistral's, like me."

"Kitty?" Lucy's tone implies that she doesn't care if it's mostly cat-like -- something that looks like that should not be called 'Kitty.' "Who is Mistral?" And how did she become the owner of that?

"She's a kitty." Silver sticks out her chin. "And Mistral's a Black Mage. He likes pets. Though I don't think I'm a pet anymore."

"She's rather more than just a kitty," Lucy says, nodding at the tentacles. "And I see. . .yeah, I'm pretty sure you're a -- um -- adoptee?" Actually, Lucy isn't sure at all. It seems to be a minefield of awkwardness.

"She's a good kitty," says Silver with finality, but then looks thoughtful. "I don't know. Mistral found me and kept me, but now all the Waltzes try to take care of me too, like they do Love."

"I would hope so." You want any kitty who looks like that to be a good kitty.

"Well, that's nice," Lucy says with a smile. "Yeah, I guess you'd be an adoptee of some sort. A sort of -- inadvertent daughter to them?"

Silver just shrugs, being pretty well unfamiliar with all the usual family terms. "Love doesn't know either."

Then she perks and laughs as she sees Kitty put a gentle big paw on one of the ducklings who are busy fussing over her chest fur and try to return the grooming favour. The little duck is totally unabashed by the treatment that soon has her fluff sticking up in odd directions all over her body.

"Well, it sounds like you two are well-loved, and that's the important thing," Lucy says.

She blinks at the scene. "What the --" Excuse her, she's not quite familiar with displacer beasts. When it comes to roleplaying games, her limited experience is with looking up things like GURPs and World of Darkness.

"Uh huh," says Silver, still smiling at the pets interacting. But she answers Lucy's question. "The ducks are her minions. They make her fur nice. So she loves them."

"Minions -- actually, that's pretty appropriate, even for regular cats," Lucy admits, unable to help a little smirk. "But -- um -- okay, is the cat in a different place than where I see it?"

Sorry for the delay. Life booted me in the head.

Silver looks up at Lucy with surprise, then squints at the displacer beast and her fuzzy minions. "Uh huh. She's with the ducks."

It's okay!

"Okay, that explains that at least," Lucy says. "I'm seeing her about -- there." She points.

Silver nods. "I forgot she can do that. I guess everybody at home looks for the ducks."

Then she looks up again. "Do you want to come to the Black Dog?"

Lucy would really like to know how you can forget something can do that, but -- well, not her world. And if everyone in Silver's group really does look for the ducks, perhaps it's a bit more understandable.

She thinks about it for a moment, then shakes her head. "I gotta save some stuff for future trips," she says with a smile. Holding up her collection of literature, she adds, "And I've got a lot of stuff to read at the moment."

"Okay," says Silver, patting Love's hand. "But when you come again, wear clothes like you are now, okay? Some people wear all kinds of weird things when they come the next time, and there's a cover your junk rule at the Black Dog."

Lucy has to hold in a laugh. "Don't worry -- I don't usually go out in public with my 'junk' exposed," she assures the girl, giggling. "It might depend a little on the weather back at home, but rest assured I'll be appropriate."

"Good." Silver gives her a little grin, but then perks as one last something comes to her mind. "You like parties and music? Do you like amusement park rides?"

"I'm in strong favor of all three," Lucy says with a grin back. "Why, something else I should be aware of around here?"
