Sal's Universe, (still) Las Vegas, Nevada. Morning after wedding.

She growled at the sunlight that was peeking through the curtains and hitting her face just-so, and groaned, stretching her arms out and swearing vengeance on the blinds for not doing their job and convincing her that it was still dark outside.

Surely it wasn't the morning already? She felt like she'd just gotten to sleep.

And then she remembered what had happened the evening before and sat up straight, examining her left hand. Yes, the new ring was still there. She saw the remains of the mammoth lobster still sitting on the bedside table.

Okay. I didn't dream all of that. She smiled widely and flopped back down into the (very fluffy, very squishy, and so comfortable it felt illegal) pillows, turning to her left side and smiling at the man who was surveying her with a look of amusement.

"Good morning," she said, propping her head up with her hand as she looked down at Kurt. "I woke ye up, didn' I?"

"Oh you did it, didn't you?" Sal shook her head as she walked out onto her front yard and up the stairs.

"When you gets back, it is so on."

Kurt facepalmed as he followed his wife up onto the porch. "Got, helfen sie, bitte."

"It's fine," Sal said with a smile as she opened the front door, mentally ready for an assault of questions and exclamations about how she wasn't dead. "I have five months to plan something good."

The room contained only Vic and Billy, who was passed out on the couch and snoring, blissfully unaware of the insect Vic was aiming at his mouth.

"Good afternoon," Sal said cheerfully to Vic, trying not to laugh at the spectacle.

She placed Wolfen down on the ground and smiled at her. "Are ye hungry, ad'ika?"

The little girl nodded, her big eyes watching as Vic dropped the bug in Billy's mouth and came over to hunker in front of her and sniff.

"Don't you dare scare her," Sal said, arms akimbo. "Or I'll have t' rip ye one."

"This's Vic," she said to her daughter. "He might look big n' scary but he's just a big ol' cat."

Wolfen glanced up at her, then watched Kurt take the bags upstairs before turning back to Vic and standing on tiptoe to stick her nose to his with a little sniff.

He blinked in surprise, then gave a warm rumble of a chuckle.

Billy woke up then, choking and sputtering and spitting the thorax of an unidentified insect across the room, swearing vengeance on Vic.

When he calmed down enough so that his eyes settled on Wolfen, he immediately stopped talking and looked at Sal. "Who the heck is this?"

Vic straightened and growled at him. "Shuddup before y' scare 'er."

Wolfen looked up at her mother, then cocked her head and suddenly vanished into Sal's shadow.

Sal stared at where Wolfen once was, and staggered just a bit from sheer surprise.

"That's insane," she breathed.
