oldMal's Serenity. Living room. When fairies die.
The old ship stood quietly just outside of the small bordertown, listing just ever so slightly to one side. She was still and empty but for the morose brooding of her captain on the bridge and the stealthy lurking of her Reader in her shadow. The rest of the crew was in town, doing whatever missions they had been assigned or assigned themselves.
Then there was a swish and a slight flash in the living room, and a still form settled onto the couch, wrapped in a silken violet cloak. It seemed that someone stood there and looked down at the figure for a moment before the tousled violet hair that half-covered the pale face was stirred slightly and another swish and flash announced the sudden absence of life in the room.

He dumped his quarry in the dryboxes in the galley and spent a few moments wondering what to make before deciding to see who was onboard and asking them. He figured a good place to start would be the living room.
Still whistling, he descended the stairs to the lower level. He wasn't too sure who was back yet, but he figured it couldn't hurt to try.

"Violet?"
His heart jumped up into his throat when she didn't react.

"Wh...what...?" he asked Abby, grabbing the girl's wrist before she could turn and leave.

And that sudden gasp would never have come about.
"Easy, girl," he said soothingly, dropping to his knees with his eyes on the violet-haired woman's face. "Jes' take it easy, yer gonna be alright."
