Joy woke slowly, stretching before she opened her eyes and then stopping short as she realized that things didn't sound, feel, or even smell right.

Jerking to a sitting position, she looked around with dismay to find herself in a tiny, comfortably furnished room, tucked into a pile of cushions and sheets on a broad windowseat that overlooked a patch of semi-tropical undergrowth.

The gentle beauty of the place was lost on her as she tossed the bedding aside and leaped toward the door. "Kurt??"

She was shaking slightly as she went to him for comfort, though she breathed a sigh of relief and gave a fervent, "Got se Danke!"

He hugged her tightly, looking around.

"I think ve are safe," he murmured, stroking her hair, looking around, still confused, but more or less alright.

"Know ye vhat this place is, Leibe?" She lifted her head and took a look around herself, seeing a small, rustic place decorated with shells and other bits of sea paraphernalia.

"Nien, but I do not think zat ze bad guys vould make us a home such as zis if it vas a prison," he smiled.

"True." She stepped past him out of the bedroom and saw that the rest of the... cabin? was a single smallish room with an ancient propane range and a kitchen table in one corner. An assortment of worn and comfortable furniture filled the rest of the space. Then she turned her head and perked her ears as a far away voice called out cheerfully. "D'ye ken vhat 'Ohanna' means?"

"Nien," he blinked. "Vere did you hear zat?"

"Somebody ootside said it." She walked over to the window, her ears perking toward the ocean and her eyes going wide with wonder and amazement. "Och!"

"Vow," he agreed, looking out a window in amazement.

"Is 'at... t' ocean?"

"Ja," he stared. "Ze Pacific, no doubt about it."

"The Pacific?" She looked at him questioningly.

"Ja," he said, wrapping his arms around her tighter and nuzzling her hair. "Ve should find out vhere ve are, und how we got here."
