Joy woke slowly, stretching before she opened her eyes and then stopping short as she realized that things didn't sound, feel, or even smell right.

Jerking to a sitting position, she looked around with dismay to find herself in a tiny, comfortably furnished room, tucked into a pile of cushions and sheets on a broad windowseat that overlooked a patch of semi-tropical undergrowth.

The gentle beauty of the place was lost on her as she tossed the bedding aside and leaped toward the door. "Kurt??"

"I'm here, fraulin," he hurried in, blinking in confusion. "Don't vorry... uh... it's under control."

She was shaking slightly as she went to him for comfort, though she breathed a sigh of relief and gave a fervent, "Got se Danke!"

"Vell, vhat islands're in the Pacific?" She lay her head on his shoulder and wrapped him in her wings, then chuckled slightly as his belly growled.

"Um... Hawaii?" he blinked, shrugged. "You hungry, fraulin?"

Her bay-brown cheeks darkened slightly as she went to set the table, and she cloaked herself in her wings. "Danke."

He smiled, fixed a plate, and walked over, presenting her with a plate of beautiful omlets and bacon, seasoned perfectly and in the shape of a smiley face.

He smiled and kissed her cheek gently.

"For you, mien liebe," he murmured, grinning before grabbing his own plate of mostly bacon and joining her, also bringing a large, ice cold pitcher of OJ.

"Zere vas zis also in ze fridge," he smiled, pouring her a glass.

There was a palm tree leaning over the beach house, one that sported a very large cluster of coconuts. And at the sight of the thump... lay a coconut.

"Huh..." he said, looking around, then going over and picking it up. It looked pretty good.

"At least ve vont starve," he chuckled, then looked around the beach, the wind caressing him as much as the sunshine.

"I promise." She wrapped her free wing around him, rubbing her face against the soft fur of his cheek and chuckling as she felt the light bristle of his whiskers coming up through it.

"Gut," he wrapped his arms around her and rocked her before he chuckled. "I need to shave."

"Nary a vone's lookin' oop," she said softly, then blinked and started as she caught sight of something by the largest building in the tiny hamlet. "Och!"

"Vat is it?" he asked, turning to look.

The man nodded, then apologized and said that he had to get the stuff he was delivering dropped off.

Kurt looked at his love, then shrugged.

"Ve must be in a parrallel universe," he said, shaking his head. "It is ze same year, but in my old vorld ve'd haff been arrested und lynched by now."

"Keanu Manoa." He grinned and offered a hand to shake.

"It is a pleasure to meet you. Might you know vhere ve can find ze post office?" Kurt asked, shaking his hand, then glancing over to make sure Joy was alright.

Joy's eyes danced at the twinkle in his. "Lead t' vay, me handsome."

He smiled and did s, headed for the store, humming to himself and thanking the Lord that such a world for mutants and humans could and did exist.

"Everything's taken care of, and the place just got looked over before you came," said Hannna, shrugging. "You should be good to go."

He nodded.

"Danke. Und how long vas it rented for?" he asked.

She showed him the bag of money, adding, "There's food all over oot there, Leibe."

"Yes. But, I dunno, other tings," he said, eyes widdening at the money bags. "Vell... if ve need zem ve'll look into it. Vat vould you like to o now, mien liebe?"

She folded her wings and dove, hitting with a massive splash and then spreading her wings so that she floated easily to the surface on her back. Laying so, she let the waves bring her back to Kurt.

"Nice," he chuckled, catching her.

"I dinnae git dizzy." She suddenly shifted her weight so as to knock him off balance.

"Whoa!" he said, stumbling to catch himself, then finally falling, letting go of her and submerging before popping back up, sputtering and looking like a drowned ferret.

"Ye 'n yer fryin'." She scooped water with her wings and drenched him.

"Vell, zere are a number of vays to cook zem," he chuckled.

"Dootin' me vord?" She sent another tidal wave toward him, then once more launched in a flash of dark wings and a shower of spray.

He shook his head, trying to splash her back and laughing.

"No fair, I haff no vings," he smirked.

She squeaked, her arms and wings going around him. "Och, jes' bein' vith ye's enough, Leibe."

"But you deserve far more zen enough," he said.

"Ja." She pushed his soggy hair back, the hair of her mane gently brushing against his face. "Och...."

"So," he chuckled, gently smoothing it back and looking at her. "Vat vould your dream vedding be, mien liebe?"

She shook her head, then tipped it back so that her hair spread out like a halo. "I dinnae vish t' vait that long, Leibe."

He smiled.

"Alright. Vell, ve'll do it as soon as possible," he smiled.
